Hi All,
I've had a Pioneer (Clevo) D900k since they were leading edge all that time ago and its had a few upgrades, disk, cpu, RAM so it is still quite a decent machine (even if it is now demoted to little Kids games machine).
However, I suspect that the video card is either dying or dead and it seems really wastful to bin the rest of the machine because of that. I'd like to upgrade instead of replace the card as the 6800 ultra runs really hot.
I've read the official position that the geforce 7950gtx is the highest upgrade there is for that, but that information is some years old, and those cards are insanely expensive if you can even find one. I've also read that the socket type MXM-II (or III or IV) means that it _could_ potentially take something more recent of the same type like a used 9300M MXM-II which I see on ebay, for around $130 USD.
Does anyone know for sure what type of socket is in a D900K and if anyone has sucessfully used a modern card in there?
Cheers,
Damian

The D900K, does not use MXM, it has modular graphics cards.
The fastest cards for your system is the Quadro FX2500M/GeForce 7950GTX
Please note that these cards are also worth upgrading to, as they may be cheaper:
6800 Ultra
7800GTX,
7900GTX
Quadro FX1400M
You need to buy a graphics card which is compatible with the D900T/D900K
You can search on ebay, also look for M7700 graphics card and M7700A graphics card.
I own a Clevo D900K, actually make that 3 of them, cause I kept buying parts for a unit which just continually destroyed itself. In my opinion the D900K is not worth investing anything in.

Thanks, frustrating, but thanks.
You're right though, any replacement card in this box is an investment. -
@DJglass
I do have a 6800 non ultra (runs very cool) that I could sell you for cheap, falls you dont find anything else you would prefer to upgrade to. Believe it or not, the 6800 is still a good middle to lower middle class video card.
confused about video card upgrades for Clevo D900k
