d900c Heavy stuttering Win 7 64 bit

Hello there!


I recently upgraded from vista 64 to win 7, due to my laptop freezing very often after updating to service pack 2 in vista and win7 seeming to be much gamer friendlier.

Now, the freezes are gone but many games (mostly online games) create heavy stuttering on the whole machine.
A good example to this problem is this thread, which I opened up on the GA forum http://forum.globalagendagame.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=149&t=12116


I have at least come to the following conclusions so far :

- It does absolutely not matter how the graphic settings are set, the stutter will be unaffected. E.g. Crysis on high runs fine but wow on low settings might stutter until I feel nauseous.

- Ran several memtests and nothing was found, switching ram etc. did not help.

- I tried different nvidia drivers and while older drivers would eliminate smaller hitches in mass effect 2, Global Agenda or Allods online are still unplayable.

- This is not the loading of textures etc. it is a preiodid problem that appears every few seconds, no matter what happens on screen.

Things Ive tried so far :
Updating and downgrading audio drivers and nvidia drivers.
Running memtests and disabling antivirus software, win 7 services and playing around with the physx drivers.

Opened up the whole laptop, both bottom and front so overheating can be eliminated, runs udner 60 c when gaming heavily, under 40 c on idle.
Laptop totally cleaned, new thermal paste recently applied.


Suspections :
Maybe need new Bios installed for win7 to run properly on the d900c?
Network issues and missing drivers might be causing trouble with games that use network communications? Warcraft 3 runs fine online though.
Wrong Bios setting? maybe something wrong with the hdd and raid settings, need clarification here. Currently running on one hdd split in two partitions.


Next steps :
Going to try out tweakforce drivers, might still be the case that sloppy drivers are the cause after all.
Maybe reformatting the whole hdd and reinstalling win 7 again.

Im really in a pinch here, hope some members here know more.

I have never been a fan of upgrading OS.
If you have the time and all your stuff backed up I'd format and do a fresh install of 7.

Before that perhaps try disabling hardware first. I'm trying to recall how it is stated in 7 but in XP you can right click and "disable" audio, nic etc in the device manager. Do 1 at a time and see if that changes anything. Audio and nic would be first suspects.

I also know Microsoft released a patch last week, I think, which some say was causing several types of problems. I think fudzilla.com mentioned it.

Doing a backup of all my stuff right now, tweakforce drivers didnt change anything.

 

I would like to chime in here about the stuttering. My 9262 stuttered quite a bit for about 2 weeks and suddenly it went away. Not sure if yours will go away or not, but mine did.

Symptons on my laptop was in MW2 it lagged, then when going to file and choosing a selection it took a while to response including when selecting the start with my mouse the screen. I would move the mouse and 1/2 sec later the application would respond.

All is good now.
