sometimes my notebook seems cool while idling. then other times I watch the GPU temp shoot up and up and up from 50 to 65.

    I don't want this.

I know i know gophn I can just hit fn +1 right? I do. and it works Great!

it's just I don't want to have to watch it all the time. its annoying.

It seems like the fans don't come on unless I hit fn +1. I am probably wrong but I sat there and watched the GPU temp go up up up and didn't go down and fans didn't come on until I toggled them. atleast the way I would have it.

now I have asked this before. but I still dont have a clear answer.

Is there any way I can program the fans to start say when the GPU hits 50? and push air until it hits 43. then it can idle back up to 50 and the fans go on again.

can I program the thermal zones ? I did this with fangui on my m1710 and it worked awesome!

there must be a fan control software. because I swear I can sit there and sit there and the fans don't turn on.

    thanks

if worst comes to worst I will just use max fans all the time. I dont mind. it doesn't bother me and it keeps everything super cool!

I will just have to get another set of fans I guess. because they will probably burn out quick no?

I was reading gophn and a while back you said that you always keep your fans on MAX? have you ever had to replace them?

    thanks

Have you checked if your heatsink is seated properly and if the compound/paste has been applied evenly?

I would think your cpu should idle around 40c and can go to 65c under heavy load.

BTW, let's hear about your findings with this tool you mention!

If this will work on the m57ru you may have a lot of new best friends. Setting zones is pretty much their holy grail at the moment.

the D900C is the last notebook that can overheat.

    your temps are fine.

CPU under 65C is way good
GPU under 90C is good... the m15x cant keep it under this temp.

... while the D900C keeps it under 70C even at max load.

My D900K is still great even with Max Fans whenever I use it... that about 2 years now.

Does the speedfan guide posted there work for desktops?

I cant seem to be able to notice any difference in my CPU temp if i play around with it according to the steps they have given... or maybe its just coz my fans are already at the top rpm... how do you know the fastest your fans can go?

its made for the diy type and desktops. but works on some notebooks.

I know 65 degrees is ok but if I can get it to IDLE COOLER... it's best.

    cooler is always better.

I would just open the notebook and look at the CPU heatsink/fan and see if you need to re-apply you thermal paste (Arctic Silver).... then secure it down.
