when i boot up the comp goes in to windows and everything seems normal, but then randomly the hd light comes on and the hd makes a clicking sound and the comp crashes, this now hapens every time i boot at some stage :(

after re booting iv noticed the red writing at the startup screens...

    Imageshack - dsc0137im.jpg

    iv then pressed control i

and it displays more red writing

    Imageshack - dsc0139k.jpg

i dont really no what raid is or how it works, is it just a question of changing a raid setting or something physical with the hd??

You have 2xhdd in RAID 0 and one of the hdd is failing, in RAID 0 when one HDD fails the system crashes. You should as quick as possible make a backup of the partition(s) affected (in windows disk management you should see a disk of 300Gb, that are your 2xHDD). Most probably you will need to buy two new HDDs or you can find an exact replacement for the broken one.
Then you will have to create de RAID 0 with the new disks and after that recover the backup.

You will Need to use some disk clone software such Arcronis or Norton Ghost and create an image of the existing partition to the external drive.

im not sure if our D901C's support s.m.a.r.t ? could be the reason windows still report it as healthy ? I dont have much know about raid though.

There is free disk cloning software out there if you google but dont know if they are any good.

You could try re-seating your drives, it may have came slightly loose ?

It´s a matter of days until the hdd that is making the "clicking" stops (most probably some physical problem). Grab a copy of Acronis or other backup software and make a full copy of the drive C to an USB HDD. Then replace the clicking disk (both disk must be exactly equal) or buy two new HDD. Then create the RAID 0 in RAID config and finally restore the backup.

i cant install norton ghost it crashes and the problem is getting worsre.. usb tranfer crashes it aswell,

these disk images that acronis and ghost create are they big?? cause if they are i think it will just crash when creating them...

gonna give acronis a try... otherwise im gonna have to try one of those recovery services.. anyone know the best one??

Is the data on your system that valuable that you would go to a recovery company ? they can be very expensive.

If not, I would pull the faulty drive, turn the Controller in the BIOS from raid to normal or AHCI and reinstall windows to that single working drive. That would give you a working a system until you can afford to replace the faulty drive - but you would loose everything on the drives that were in RAID.

Hopefully your drive works long enough for you to get image before it crash's.

It would depend how much data was on your drives in raid and how much compression was used creating an image. Generaly speaking, if your drives had 70gb worth of data, you may get an image between 60 - 70gb in size - its very hard to say.

    Good Luck.

If its under warrenty - just get it repaired under the warrenty.

If I remember correctly, The bottom disk is disk 1 & top disk is disk 2 when you looking at them installed.

As for a linux live cd, im not sure - havent really used one - hopefully another member can guide you there.

Is under warrenty?! Then send'it to the seller :)
But most probally you will still lose all data. Grab a Boot CD of Acronis and make a backup copy to an external HDD. When the Lap returns you restore the backup.
