Is it worth it? What are the chances of getting a dead pixel?

    Thanks

Dead pixels do sometimes happen. However, if you are buying a Sager and get a unit with a dead pixel, you can send it back and get another unit as they have a 30 day satisfaction guarantee. You will have to pay shipping both ways, though and I suppose there is a slight chance you could end up with another dead pixel screen.

That said, I didn't get a pixel guarantee on my 5793 and don't have any dead/stuck pixels at all. I'd say skip the extra 200 bucks and just see how it turns out. Also, if you do get the higher resolution screen, I believe a dead pixel would be really hard to even spot.

I also didnt get the dead pixel warranty and my screen came perfect. And like Thug said if you have the WUXGA screen it will be really hard to spot unless you are looking for it or it is center quadrant in which case Sager/resellers would take it under their warranty and pay shipping both ways and have the screen replaced.

    Thanks guys

So I can use the 30-day satisfaction guarantee to my advantage and simply have it returned?

PS: there's no such thing as a center quadrant :p

Yes, you can use the 30 day policy. :)

Additionally, I believe there is a policy of what Sager considers to be a defective screen. I think it's if you divide the screen into 9 pieces and if there is a dead pixel in the center most one or more than 5 max anywhere, it can be replaced. Perhaps someone can help confirm that.

    Edit-

i just got my np9262 yesterday and i found a dead pixel around the central area(its right center)
im not really sure should i exchange it or not, because the dead pixel can only be seen if the screen color is black or dark color.

    hmm...

Sounds like a stuck pixel, not a dead pixel; you should try to massage it out or try one of the apps around online that can sometimes "exercise" a stuck or hot pixel back into good health.

I have a stuck pixel right in the middle of my 2092 running 1680x1050. It's hardly noticeable, and I didn't even see it until I had installed everything including the kitchen sink. I tried working it out, but it's not going anywhere. I decided to deal with it.

I have an M570RU and when I checked carefully, I found a dead pixel near one edge.

What I can tell you is that one dead pixel on a screen this big (I'm running at 1680x1050) is about the size of a small grain of dust. It has _zero_ impact on daily usage. Even remembering about where it is, it takes me several seconds to find it.

It'd be different if it was a pixel stuck on a full red or something, but one dead pixel is no big deal. I didn't purchase a special dead-pixel guarantee and won't in the future.

If it really bothers you, then the only choice is probably return it

It might take more than just a couple of hours. I'd give it a little more time, and if it doesn't go away and you can't stop fixating on it, then, as sujinge9 said, return it (so long as you're still within the 30-day return period).
