hi,
how often do dead-pixels come up in sager notebooks? (the np2096 specifically) and also, hardware problems in general. i'm scared to death of dealing with sager support because of their very poor rating.
thanks for reading

Sager gets poor ratings because they have at times not been helpful at answering questions--not because the actual laptops are poor quality.
You will notice that Sager resellers like powernotebooks and xoticpc have very high reseller ratings selling the exact same notebook. -
Sager is a company that likes to sell their notebooks in bulk, like a wholesaler. When you come with your single purchased laptop looking for help, how dare you, you are wasting their precious company resources. Come back when you've purchased 1000 or more units. It's better to deal with the resellers because they are in a more convincing position to get things done for you.
And the rate of getting a Sager with a dead pixel is a bit higher than the rate of getting one with a normal laptop because you have the option of purchasing the dead pixel warranty that comes mandatory and a hidden cost with other manufacturers. -

that made me giggle hehe
unfortunately, the standard 1-year warranty for the np2096 is not covered by xoticpc or powernotebooks and i don't think i can afford a better plan.
thanks for the replies -

I think Deathwingers reasoning is that assuming the same ratio to start with, if some people buy the 0dp warranty, then the ratio in the screens that are left is higher for those who don't get the 0dp (it's still not a high %age though)

And I think this has been discussed many times here, where it was explained that Sager gave the option for a zero dead pixel policy to give the choice to the consumer if he wanted to pay an extra or not instead of including it automatically in the price.
