on the xotic and malibal sites for the 8130 and 8150.... exactly what kind of hard drive is the default one? It only says

    500GB 7200RPM (Serial-ATA II 300 - 16MB Cache) - Default

    Scorpio Black?

It depends, but typically the stock drive is a Seagate Momentus 7200.4 ST9500420AS.

If the drive costs more than the standard, you should expect to pay more - but PM the resellers to see.

I expect they purchase equipment in some amount of bulk. Buying a special drive for you is likely not to be as cheap for them...so if they were to charge 10% over their cost for the standard drive....you'd have to pay the difference between that and 10% over the cost of a standard wholesale purchase.

I decided to provide my own SSD rather than purchase the ones from the resellers - you could probably do the same with the HD if you wish. Talk to them - they don't give quotes in public messages.

they might say , go get it yourself ;) . I mean they will take $45 off the build price though, but you cannot find a $45 500gb 7200rpm drive anywhere now!

As mentioned the brand of the hard drive cant be guaranteed as they do change. The only options that are guaranteed are the Intel SSD or Seagate momentus drives.
