so the 5793 says it has an optical s/pdif output, yet the output itself looks just like a mic/headphone jack... am i missing something here?

seems to me if alot of these repeat questions didn't get asked over and over...this sub forum would slow to a crawl and you wouldn't have anything to reply to Gophn....or am I wrong

hm, well you had it wrong, many many times then :). digital s/pdif (says digital, not coax) is supposed to be carrying a multi-channel signal. whats the point of having it if im going to be using it as mono.

anyways, i've found that there are mini-toslink converters (digital s/pdif) exclusively for laptops (much like USB and mini-USB) . it has the same functionality as the normal digital s/pdif but the input looks just like a 3.5mm headphone jack.

so you're ignoring the guy who said he bought one of those and it didn't work?

Digital coax IS multichannel, thats what it was designed for before it went optical

DVI output is on the rear, near the power input
