    Hello

Whenever i play graphic intense games like fallout 3 or oblivion i get the error:
"Display driver amdkmdap stopped responding and has successfully recovered."

does anyone here have similiar problems and know any fix?? i have clevo w870, windows 7 64bit, i7 840qm, MR5870, 4gb ram,

so far ive tried reinstalling windows 7, trying older and newer display drivers (inc 10.8 CCC), uninstalling ccc and running only the driver, 4gb ram patches, running as administrator and compatibility modes.

if anyone knows any fix and it works there shall be $$$ by paypal  (im not joking, seriously this error is annoying!!)

In your case the fix is to call your reseller and RMA - seems like a broken GPU to me. Did you oc the card - if so, what are your clocks? That could also be an explanation.

^^ I was thinking the same thing. I would say check your temps, but i know these machines are really good at cooling so that shouldn't be the problem.

forgot to state ive already checked them, 40-45 for cpu and 48-50 idle for gpu,
goes to about 65 for gpu and 55ish for cpu during benchmarks and gaming

I had broken GPUs that could run Vantage without a problem as well, one was even stable in a 2h-Furmark run but would give me a blue screen 15 mins into watching a movie. Definitely send that laptop back to your reseller and let it get fixed.

    well so far ive played:
half life 2- no problems on max settings
half-life 2 ep1 - only once during the flashing part
    portal- no problem on max
oblivion and fallout 3 after i leave vault 101 and leave the sewers.

maybe i need to try some more graphic intense games...

That's up to you, in my opinion there is already enough evidence to RMA. But you could download Furmark and tell us if it shows the same error, that program about as graphic intense as it can get...

Run OCCTPT GPU test and see if you get any errors. Might be a video memory thing.

If Furmark runs stable, then it might really be a vram error. I had the same with my GTX 260M (the one that could run Furmark, most games, but not videos or some other stuff). There are some tools that can test this, but I could not get them to run. Something like memtest86 for vram, but harder to get. Seems like all consumer tools dont stress the vram that much. Anyway, once again, at this point I would just send it in...

Did you try changing your graphics driver?

Would still send it in... with those programs you cannot search for vram errors. Anyways, 20 mins is not a very long time for a stress test.

I think OCCTPT also have a Vram test. It's not very good but you can try it.

I have an older P4 3ghz, 1Gram, ECS G736 laptop with a definite display problem, I have attached an external monitor to check if it was the screen but it also gives this same problem.
Screen suddenly gets very hard to read after a cold start in about ~45 minutes, it goes into lines and pixels etc.
    Is this repairable?
note: I have tried a fresh install of windows, and yes it still does it.

I got the exact same problem if I overclock my 5870m over 860 for the core. Even FurMark run stable but crash on game. Seems like you have a power leak with your system (mine doesn't run so hot at all, it even shutdown if I keep 850 core gpu + cpu overclock beyond x21 with my 160w psu... it's my conclusion since it do the same thing if I run a game more than 10 min on battery without overclock (it shutdown without warning))
