i was waiting for np9280 but just saw this np8662 model.
it's equipped with 260m so it has enough graphic power i need.
i went to xoticpc.com to customize it but they have q9000 for this
laptop and no qx9300. i was thinking about getting this laptop +
qx9300 if it supports cuz that way i can get something more portable
and have enough power for my work and gaming(probably not as powerful as
i7+280m but will be much easier to carry around).

The QX9300 would cause too much heat.

    short answer.... Yes.

Why do some vendors do not have that option?
    - these vendors (Sager and Pro-Star) are only following Clevo recommendations

Then why do other vendors have the option?
    - these vendors have probably tested it to know that its safe, as well as their warranty will cover it.

.... and using QX9300 should be fine since it has the same 45w TDP as the Q9000 and Q9100.

Sager and Pro-Star are not just following Clevo's "recommendations" they are staying within Clevo's warranty policies.

If you see another Clevo OEM or reseller offering the QX9300 you will indeed be relying on that companies warranty alone, because Clevo will not be there to back them up.

Can anyone make a list of the Clevo resellers that have gone out of business and left their customers high and dry with no warranty just in the last year?
