i know a few companies use this display and im trying to see if its strictly the ones sold or used by dell with specific issues im having and ive had 5 of them so far. if you have one can you please post and let me know so i can ask some specific questions???

i have crazy color saturation with yellows and greens they are so bright i simply cant tame them. im having banding in colors on many screens. these can be seen on most of the windows wallpapers for instance. light bleed, and very spotty or not sure how to describe it blacks. like light and dark spots all over the place, kinda like what light blees looks like at the bottom of a screen but varied across the whole panel top to bottom.. ive run tests on these and discovered even though dell advertises 8 bit they are for sure 6 bit panels. that could be why they are showing the banding, they also exhibbit a lot of macroblocking when watching dvd's on the system..i have tried 2 different dvd drives and its def not the drive. the mobo and gpu's have also been replaced now as well and the lcd cable. they seem to want to send me everything but a different brand screen.. its ridiculous imo..

im trying to see if others with any other brands have any issues or maybe dell just got a nasty batch of these. since all 5 i have had looked the same if not worse than the one before it did.

i know im not crazy but dell seems to think i am.. its funny everyone complains in the dell forum that they cant get a lg.... lg is the only thing they are shipping me.. i had a samsung but it was very dim compared to the lg (lg on about 60% was as bright as the samsung on 100% yes that big of a difference) and it had some dead pixels but man it was wayyyyyyyyyy more accurate color wise and with blacks than the lg is. i kinda wish i would have lived with it and forgot the whole lg screen idea.. i cant seem to get away from the lg's lol

this is the same as the lplh400 and lplf600. thanks

Can't say that I have that model of screen.
I'm curious, though, do you have any screenshots of the problem you have?

I have the LPLE400 in my 9262 which is very nice. I also had an LG Phillips in my 1730 (I can't recall the number) that wouldn't display shades of yellow, one of the many reasons I returned the machine. I didn't have the other problems you describe though.

what do you mean it would not display shades of yellow? like that all the yellows were the same color? all my yellows are like blindingly bright no matter how i set it or calibrate it

More or less. All shades of yellow were bright yellow. Check this color wheel at: http://articles.scrapbooking.com/images/colorwheel.gif The topmost segment is pure yellow, the one to the immediate left should be orange-yellow, and the one to the immediate right should be green-yellow. My 1730 displayed all three segments as pure yellow.

There was a great deal of discussion about this on the forums at Dell. At the time I was discussing the problem there (Jan. 08), it appeared that only users running XP were affected. I don't know if, or how, the problem might have been resolved.
