Hi, I know you have been emailing me about my 570ru already, but I would not even consider owning this laptop without the uxga screen. It's incredible and is definitely the best thing about this laptop, along w/ the speakers.

I did see someone w/ the matte screen briefly, and it looked alright but gloss screens look way better and the higher resolution is way better, esp. since it gives you the ability to use your laptop as an HDTV (1080p)

i will not be using it at all for hdtv.. so no worries there. we have another 17" and while i prefer the wuxga i know for sure.. i just cant bring myself to spend over 220$ more or i think it was close to that for that upgrade.. and they want even 150 more for simply the gloss?? i mean come on.. same resolution just glosy instead of matter for 150$.. i dont think id spend the 150 or 220 unless it made a spectacular difference...i have a nec desktop matte screen and a acer matte screen on my other desk and i love then both the nec is stunning.. but im afraid the notebook screens will not look the same or as good..

trust me if i had the extra 200+ to throw out there i would get the wuxga screen..

PLEASE more info on the matte screen??? thanks so much

If you get it at eurocom, their default config comes w/ the uxga gloss, so it's a lot cheaper than anywhere else. If you're willing to get the default config and no bluetooth and put in the wireless card yourself, that's by far the cheapest place to get it.

I never heard of a matte uxga screen, I thought the options were the wsxga (or watev) matte or uxga gloss...I like gloss a lot more, but you could get used to either...you have to clean gloss more often, but it's super easy.
