yesterday i was playing Dota 2 and i had some graphical errors and couldn't move in-game. I had to forcefully close down the game but when that happened this message popped up.

"driver has stopped responding and has recovered"

and i couldn't even watch youtube afterwards. I deleted the GTX 560M driver and reinstalled it...but can't even watch youtube still. Even updated to the BETA version...still not working.

what drivers have you tried so far.
questions that have to be asked, have you overclocked, what temperatures are you getting while browsing and while gaming and have you cleaned your fans and vents out lately.

    It sounds like two issues:

    1. Dota 2 issue: Can be solved by driver or replacing VGA card? So does this issue solve after you re-install the driver?
    2. Youtube issue is Adobe Flash. Did you try on Facebook's games? If you can't play, then the issue is Adobe Flash.

i tried reinstalling the driver to my current driver which is 301.42 but it didnt work. so i tried to update to the latest beta version. that didnt work.

So...i tried reinstalling the driver back to WHQL driver which is 301.42 by following this guide. How to: Remove your Nvidia GPU Drivers. WITH the new driver fusion (in safe mode) after doing the website steps in overclock.net...

then i installed the WHQL driver 301.42. It worked. no problems so far but i haven't tried it long enough.
I didnt overclock it, i am getting stable 50C according to CPUID hardware and according to the CPUID, i have 0.82V in the GTX 560M graphics card while browsing.
BUT, when i turn on DOTA2, temperature goes to 70C~ and i get 1.00V in the GTX 560M graphics card while playing.

i didnt clean out the vents.

I'm very sure it's definitely a driver issue. I had the same exact problem with my old Alienware ware M15X, running ATI 5850. If I have 2 windows running youtube simultaneously, it will get the same exact error. I had to uninstall, run driver cleaner, and install the latest driver. Since it was a laptop, it does get tricky to install a generic driver than the stock driver. You should see this problem again since you update your driver.

Yes, laptop can run high end games on battery. You will have to go to the power plan option to set it. But why do you want to game on battery. Your game will probably only run for 30 mins or less before your battery dry up.

what do you mean i should see this problem again since i updated my driver? does this mean "driver has stopped...blah blah" will never get fixed? so far its good.

also, i do play games on charger but should i put the battery option on high performance or balanced?

o thx. but anyone know why when i play games the voltage goes up to 1.00V and when its idle the voltage goes down to 0.82V in the CPUID hardware problem in the GTX 560M graphics card part?

also, i want to know if i should put the battery option to high performance when playing games. I always used balanced in every situation.

P.S. i also bought a power surge protector. Newegg.com - BELKIN BE112230-08 8 Feet 12 Outlets 3940 Joules Surge Protector with Telephone and Coaxial Protection it should arrive soon but is it good? from the reviews i think its good.

Don't know much about the variation of the voltage level, but I'm assuming that the computer is trying to conserve more battery power if if the GPU is not in use. If you are not having problems with anything, don't worry about it. If you do have a problem with the vid card, trust me, you will know. You are reading into a little too much. Just go ahead and enjoy your game and laptop ;)

Personally, I always set power option to high performance. I do not know how much of a difference between balance and high performance.

It's how the Fermi GPU work, each clock zone has its own voltage. GTX560M at full load can consum up to 75W, there's no battery that can handle that plus the CPU's power consumption. It's why you can't get it to run at full potential when on battery mode.

o i see thank you very much.

i actually canceled the order on the power surge protector because in LA i dont think there are many lightning...so im just going to use what i have here. also i'll try to use high performance in the battery setting from now on as i always have my charger plugged in.
