Hi guys, having a small problem with a certain driver.

I recently received my new laptop (clevo M570RU) and it came with vista so i wiped it and installed XP. Installed all of the drivers fine and everything's working as far as i can tell, no instability or anything. (9165 3dmark06)

When i go into my device manager i notice there's one yellow question mark against one of the drivers that's marked 'unknown'. Double clicking on it shows location as 'Intel(R) ICH8M LPC Interface Controller - 2815'. What is this? Is it the chipset? I've installed all of the necessary drivers from the CD so i'm at a loss.

If anyone could shed some light on the subject and/or provide some info on where to get the right driver that would be great! Any help is much appreciated, thanks.

    Rich

It sounds like the chipset. Can you go to the "Details" tab of the item in the device manager and tell us the hardware id? (you can select it in the drop down box)

hey, thanks for the quick reply. Yeah the hardware Id is as follows:

    ACPI\ITE8709
    *ITE8709

That's exactly what it says under the tab.

That is the (CIR) infrared driver. If I remember correctly it is part of the "other" drivers on the CD

Hi...! I have a similar problem, "driver missing" but i can't identify my
missing driver under the device manager at all.

The missing objekt is placed under Scsi-raid-controllers and its Hardware id is saying.

    ACPI\PNPA000
    *PNPA000

I've tried to reinstall all the drivers but with no succes. I just cant see what this thing is.

If someone can help it would be greatly apreciated.

    wow quick reply.

the system is a m570ru with winxp pro.

installed the chipset drivers and the device just keeps coming back. Windows tries to install it automatically at startup but never goes through with the installation.

Its just weird that the device is listed under scsi-raid. Furthermore its listed as ABXN328R IDE Controller. :S
