the 5797 is sager's 17" and similarly priced.
-
hmmmm..... pretty close. it doesn;t HAVE to be a sager. any other ideas before i probably choose the 8662?
-
Take a 5797:
Keep the WSXGA+
T9600 (P9700 is a waste of money in a gaming machine this powerful)
GTX 280M
4GB DDR3
250GB 7200.4 (Protip: the 320GB 7200.4 is the slowest of the three)
Windows 7 Release Candidate: Buying Vista is a total waste at this point

Dell was having a sale on their 1730's a little while back for like $1200 with 2.4 ghz c2d and 9800m gt's in SLI. I don't know if that's still going on or not though.
-
no way. are you sure it wasn't 2200? 12 seems a bit low, and 22 would mak more sense for a sale price.
kevin- thanks for the info on the 5797.... why do you say buying vista is a waste? you have to buy it to get W7, and its cheaper to have it installed by XoticPC than it is to buy it straight out from CC (lol) or BB -
No, it was $1200. They were clearing out stock for the "allpowerful" so I don't know if they have any left or not.
-
NVIDIA® SLI™ Dual GeForce® 8700MGT 512MB GDDR3 and TV Tuner [add $100 or $3/month1]
sager would SMOKE that. thanks though GamingAU -
Just take the base proc, 4gb ram upgrade, 320 7200 rpm, and get win 7. $1772
You can get a QX9300 for $400 off ebay and you're set lol -
i don't trust ebay all that much. can't really tell if package has been used+resealed. I'm just dumb like that.
i don't have an extra 400 bucks to spend. -
I'd go with the sager anyhow, I'm not a Dell fan. -
Check out the new Alienware too.
-
dell is a crapshoot. you buy a dell and they go "mkaythankxbai, enjoy the repairs and extra costs to do them"
-
The thing about the Alienware is it's 11 pounds. It's dumb to buy it and it not consider another 260m in the future at least. You've also gotta pay for the WUXGA screen otherwise well...
Hey, I got a grand idea. Why don't they just start it with the WUXGA and sli 260m? -
again, i only have about 1700 to spend, give or take
-
Well really, the p8700 isn't a bad cpu. I'd go with the NP5797. Gee I wonder why I'd say that...
-
lol! idk, maybe i can scrounge something up. if i'm going to spend 2k on a computer, i'm getting an i7
-
There's a number of good rigs on the marketplace here too. I'd ask donadah or w/e, Mr. moo has a cheap M17, etc. Just take a look over there.
-
meh, the i7's overrated imo. I wouldn't get one unless I got the big one.
-
yeah... the Deneb 940? now THAT is a processor! ^.^
anywho, i'll take a look. thanks -
hmmmmmmm where is that marketplace
-
here's a good one
and that's the marketplace btw -
i'm not too into the used business. i want to make sure i have a warranty on the thing.
me=klutz. -
Soviet Sunrise Notebook Prophet
-
can i put a warranty on one of those computers through a third party company?
-
If you buy a used laptop with a warranty it should still carry over. Wouldn't hurt to ask for their proof of purchase
-
how do i know the kind of warranty they have? like if its accidental or whatever? i don't want to get a slow or whatever computer. I think i'll just buy new. That alienware is sick though. i want one, but way OP imo
-
Oh yeah, there's also the MSI GT725. It's a good performer and less moolah, but doesn't have the quality of the sager
-
yeah, but that thing has a layout and quality of a vtech
-
indeed... so get the sager!
-
ok. i'll have to do that...
-
is the cheapest place to get it XoticPC?
-
That's what I'd recommend.
-
i wish i had the money for a 5797 ;-;
-
-
...and the names - nadda.
I'm not even sure $35 is worth it unless you use the notebook alone with the battery much. -
i think the 25 is overclockable
equivilant?
