I've been pretty unsuccessful finding information about the esata usb 3 combo port. I've never heard of it before. How do you use it and how does it compare to esata or usb 3 alone? Can you plug an esata or usb cable into it or is the cable a special type of combination?

Its a port that you can plug either a eSATA or USB into, it physically will accept and use both.

Also it can work with special eSATAp devices. Some things, like adapters for 2.5" drives, can get power from the USB side and data over SATA. I have one for hooking laptop drives externally to my laptop for testing and data recovery and so on.
