Did anyone receive this notebook with a wsxga display (1680x1050) ?? Can you list your hardware id number and how were the viewing angles? Did it look "washed out" when looking from the top of the screen at an extreme angle ? Did the screen show a negative image when view from extreme angles from the left or right? Any answers appreciated, still trying to find a great display to go along with a great gpu.

you should contact Eurocom and ask which panel you have... you can use Everest (I believe) to check which model you received.

You can specify which one you want... there are spec sheets all over the web of the LG 17" panels.

yes, i am confident that they do if the resolution is WXGA+ (1440 x 900) and higher.

    For instance, my panel:

    LG.Philips

    Model Name LP171WU1

    Active Area [mm] - 367.2 x 229.5
    Outline Dimension [mm] - 382.2 x 244.5
    Thickness [mm] - 6.2
    Resolution - 1,920 x 1,200
    Aspect Ratio - 16:10
    Pixel Pitch [mm] - 0.191(133)
Number of Colors - 262,144(6 bit)
    Luminance [cd/㎡] - 190(typ. 5p)
    Weight [g] - 720
    Contrast Ratio - 500:1
    Interface - 2ch LVDS
    Viewing Angle [˚,U/D/L/R] - 120/140
    Response Time [ms] - 25
    _______________
the newer version of mine LP171WU3, is nicer since its brighter (600:1) and has better response time (16ms).

just look up the model number that you want, and tell them.

or ask them which model numbers are available from them now.

I know... but it does not bother me, I have gamed on it for almost 2 years now... no complaints.

But if this LCD panel ever breaks (on accident.. :)) then I will get the new LP171WU3. :D

if you know the model of the panel, then you should be able to ask for it in your notebook (as long as they are available for the vendor).

the best one? ... I do not know about that... its all up to personal preference.

But as for me... I like my current WUXGA LG panel... and if there is a model thats brighter and has better response.. then I would go for it.

The other LG panels (WSXGA+ and WXGA+) would be brighter and have better response times... since they have lower resolutions, therefore better power consumption specifications to get the extra brightness and response.

I believe you can use Everest to see which panel model you have.

but the fastest WUXGA panel I have seen is with a 16ms response.

To clarify I don't own this notebook. So if anyone has this particular notebook with a glossy 1680x1050 screen from eurocom can you list your hardware id for the lcd?

apparently they can't guarantee a particular model lcd panel which is disappointing considering the amount of money being spent on it. I was told I would most likely get an LG.. not good enough.

you can always ask which model of LCD panels would they have available for which resolution.
