Thanks for the information. I have a question. How can I get the real temps for the C2D processors? I have 3 programs that give 3 different values for my q9450 in my laptop.

not sure on that one. lets see if anyone else can help you out.

The reason for this is because different programs use a different TjMAX. Real Temp for example sets the TJ Max differently to Core Temp so you will not get the same readings unless you standardise the TjMAX figure.
In simple terms what happens is this - the CPU has a diode which reports a figure (NOT a temperature) which is generally refered to by software as the didtance to TjMAX. This figure is then taken by a program such as Core Temp and then deducted from the TjMAX set by the program. So for example if the CPU reports 50 and the program has a TjMAX set to 95 (e.g. Real Temp) then it will read 95-50 = 45C. If however the program has TjMAX set to 100 (e.g. Core Temp) it will read 100-50 = 50C. This is why Core Temp reads higher temps than Real Temp. You can however change the TjMAX in this software.
The real question if of course "what is the correct TjMAX?". There is simply no fact based answer to this as Intel does not publish TjMAX figures for desktop CPUs so Core Temp, Real Temp, Everest etc etc use an educated guess!!!!! -
i knew that
thanks for clearing that up Neil, even though ive got no idea what your talking about.
everything you wanted to know about temperatures
