I noticed that my 5760 screen sometimes flickers a bit. Its kind of unpredictable when it flickers but a lot of times when it first boots up. Sometimes when iam running on battery. Is this a bad sign that the backlite is about to die or is faulty? Should i be worried?

Well it happens when you are connected to battery.

I have found that if you use the Fn command to increase/decrease the brightness helps a lot.

bring it down 1 brightness level from the highest, and you should not notice it flickering anymore when you are on battery.

There was a similar problem with the Gateway MX7515 that I used to own. The fix was the same too; reduce the brightness by one.

The cause of the problem was a loose connector from the LCD to the motherboard. The connector was located just below the power button and media buttons, and to fix it all you had to do was crack it open and press it down firmly. Opening and closing the laptop lid would loosen it up again and you would have to do it again after a few months.

Just FYI, maybe the fix for your will be similar.
