hey guys (girls if any :D )

i noticed that the forums lately has been filled with sadness (e.g. my gpu melt down, my bios is telling me to F^#% myself... bla bla bla) so i thought, "hey you have a new laptop you should brag about it" :p :p so im doing a little review about my experince with it until now (48 nonstop use), so here it goes:
i sould go with the pros and cons system but nahh just listen,
the notebook is a BEAST really !!! :D :D :D BUT its has a F@#$ing ugly look, unlike the picture on the site (thats according to my taste), my previous HP DV6 was like a beauty queen compared to it, oh and the acer aspire oooohhh i cant even speak xDDD, so in short its ugly and look like its been made from a cheaply plastic can  .
the screen (this is the BIGGEST downside to me on this notebook) is small (15.6in) and have the 1920x1080 as a native resolution and therefore has everything look very very small and if you try to change it to 1600x900 it will stretch everything up and you would loss all that awesome crisp image and that showoff windows aero feel.
the bettery of course wont hold a charge enough for you to make a cup of tea :p :p my tea come out after one hour just to let you know xD
the touchpad looks and feel really really nice its way better than the previous ones (hp, acer, compaq, LG) but the whole freakin surface hold your fingerprints !!!
hmm...what else....oh before i forget this isnt some kind of benchmarking thread if you read until now go on but dont expect any benchmarking since i havent downloaded a single game YET ^_____^ that will be soon to come.
this thing is really blocky and kind of heavy but not very much, the fans are not that high, it falls in the normal range to me, the bluray is really crappy one, its really cheaply made and it made my notebook delivery delayed for 8 days (yeah i figure it out) so for anyone who want to buy one take it with the option provided and dont upgrade anything other wise it will take its sweet time to get to you, the keyboard is not that great its keys are really badly distributed, but again thats up to the way you use it and your taste too, the sager logo is cool, the fingerprint is waaaaaaaay better than the one that comes with acer aspire (any idea if they are from the same company ?)
the sound is kind of loud but havent tried it with gaming but for music i would give it 7/10 as its loud and that scores 5 on my scale and 2 for clearity since i used to have a dolby hometheater in my acer
hmm thats all... (for now xD), i put on this thread to see the members active again and to make more friends in the forums and also a quick guidance to the newbies to know what there getting them self into, i hope its alright and if anyone thought that i offended him in anyway...im sorry  , please share your thoughts and ideas to the new owners of the NP8690 and share a laugh here :D :D :D

Kudos for the effort mate, +1 rep for that !
Congratulations on your new notebook, i was following the 470m benchmarks thread so i know that you had to wait for it for a while, hope it was worth it :D
Just out of curiosity why didn't you go for the 8760 instead of the 8690 if you say 15.6" is small ?? The 8760 is exactly the same notebook (though a lot better looking) but with a 17" screen!

lol thanks buddy, as to the waiting and the spent cash it was worth every penny and every second :) :) :)

as to the screen, im looking for a gaming rig as protable and as powerful as possible, the 15.6 inch is the best and what i mean with the small screen is that its small screen to hold 1920x1080 resolution but lets say that we connected it to my tv 42inch ohhhh it look hmmm i cant even say hehehe
so for me the 15.6 is BIG but it should have a resolution that fit in it, its like watching avatar bluray on 11 inch old tv (the ones with butts xDDD) would that be convenient ???
i hope you got my point, and thanks for reply first buddy :)

All I do is use large icons and medium (125%) text and I can see/read perfectly on the 8690's 15.6" 1080p screen.

you complain about 1080p on 15 inch? that's a good thing, it reduces the need for anti-aliasing and everything looks that much detailed when those pixels are damn small like that. and use "ctrl +" for any webpage that is too small to make it bigger...

and, i'll rather have a bland looking laptop that can perform beastly rather than a mac-type laptop that sucks and is bought for the "oooh shiny" factor.

And, since it looks bland, people won't be as likely to steal it, it doesn't scream "I'M A $2000 PIMPED OUT LAPTOP!" Alienware is guilty of that kind of looks.

hmm... but its kind of comparesion, lets see: the effort that the gpu spend to pump all the stuff on the 1080p Vs the effort that the gpu spend to use the anti-aliasing ??? im i right until now ?? well add to the equation that everything is really tiny and you would need a new pair of glasses with that extra lens in it and would look like grandpa bending down to the screen to read a notification from the OS :p , so the 720p wont reduce the quality that much yet it will give you very readable surface AND will have less effect on the gpu, as to my first question i really dont know the answer so i will wait for someone who know

AMEN to that bro    used to have all the shiny stuff (HP dv6, acer aspire, and my bro had alienware, but not even a single one came this close to my heart :D :D

hehehe that reminded me of a commercial for kia spectra, it kind of really represent us :p ( i looked litterly for 2 hours to get it :D ) here it is:

    heeeeeeey Iccup,
havent seen you for a while, what happened to your ordered ?? glad to see you dude
as to the heat actually i havent install anything yet on the laptop except the OS and the Avira antivirus, but i was putting my hand on the fans output every once in a while and it was very cool even when using the nvidia tech demo the gaiant dude with the spiders, as to why ? it just came late and in a really bad timing (Midterms) but i already had the last one today and another lab one in the next week ^_^
so i will probably start setting the beast to fire off after this post but i wont cameback today :D :D :D

Isn't it the worst feeling when you have a brand new toy but can't play with it due to whatever reason?

I on the other hand is patiently waiting for my system. I have no idea when it is going to get here but should be coming soon. As soon as I get it I will post some first impressions and hopefully some benchmarks!

lol...Personally I really like the looks of it, its actually one of my favorites. U know you can go look at tons of laptops at the stores that all have magnesium and aluminum builds but that dosnt make them better then using materials found in laptops like these.
