I am having all kind of problems with GTA 4, so first i had the first driver 176.09 and the game was slow and laggy,
now the new driver 179.48, it was a bit faster but throwing me out of game and crashing, i disabled the sli, and it worked, then enabled, worked for 30 minutes then crashed.but still the fps are low like 20-25 with 1440x990 and high settings. How can u be sure if sli is working or gta4 utilize it???

Anyway there is the driver 180.84 http://www.nzone.com/object/nzone_gtaiv_downloads.html , but i am concerned because i have a laptop and imp stuff, dont want to screw things.

Please help, should i try these , anyone tried them on the 9800m GTX sli? any improvements?

    Thanks

I'm on the 182.05 (Dox) driver, and GTA4 seems to just slow down randomly at times regardless of graphics settings. Previously, with an older Dox driver (181.22), that did not happen. The game was very playable. It's a driver issue. It doesn't help that GTA4 itself is rather buggy, and is probably one of the worst PC ports ever done for a big budget title.

If you can, try Burnout Paradise. That game is VERY well optimized. Everything on high, maxed out resolution 1920x1200, frame rate never seems to fall below 40 (unless SSAO is on). If you still have issues even with that game, then I suggest trying new drivers. Part of the 'fun' of owning an nvidia graphics card is testing drivers. Constantly.

yes true, i have burnout paradise all on maxed out 1920x1200 and the fps dont drop below 60...
anyway after playing GTA4, strangely playing burnout paradise too, i cant seem to understand the hype in it. the cars in paradise drive much faster, gta4 control are bad, driving is bad, and after u finish doing the errands again and again, its boring..its not oblivion.
Thats why i just installed my old copy of oblivion to see how it runs on my new laptop with everything maxed out..i havent finished it anyways...
