with the gts 260m out, will we see a gtx 260m replacement like a gtx 275m, and if so, will it fit into the gtx 260m's slot?
-
depends if your talking about MXM 2.1 or MXM 3.0b....
if you mean your laptop... its MXM 2.1 and more then likely there will not be a upgrade for you other then a 280.... but i can't say for sure....
the new series will blow the g92 chip out, since its 2 years old....
But the new series should be GTX 3xx series .... -
We are in the sager and clevo forum and in his sig is :

Lol all same text... crap ya stupid... so he has the MXM 2.1 slot... gotcha... and you've already answered the question.... bye lol

I'm not keen on the 280, I'd like to stick with "well it's clevo / sager approved" to keep from voiding warranties un-necessarily.

Haha, someone got told.
I agree with The_Moo™. The MXM 2.1 G92b is the last option available for the M860TU. Clevo will discontinue the M860TU once they release the W860CU, and they are going to be hard at work trying to sell that system instead of catoring to the short-lived M860TU. -
i was just asking... i didn't mean to "get told"
what's the w860cu? -
under the GPU on the configure page it says "user upgradeable"
if it says that.... i think free game ....but im not familar with their warranty terms
The 200 series was released in both MXM 2.1 (clevo's) and MXM 3.0b (M17x, 9850 few others)
we will have to wait n see... Kevin Jack maybe able to help you more though -
you didn't butters did

oh, sorry.
google is my friend, i just never heard of the w860cu. I will say this, it blew me away (the m860tu) and I'm hooked on it. I just figured as it's a "primo gaming rig", that it'd be upgradeable like other gaming sagers are. -
well you bought it @ the end of its life span it seems...
-
Well, it's already had two upgrades, not even a year into its lifespan: 9800 -> 260M, and added quad support.
The high memory clocks on the new GT200s make me very skeptical on whether they would be translate into MXM 2.1 variants, but the extremely low TDPs might allow some magic to happen. The reason the GTX 260/280M plug in and work is because they're G92 cores, but with an all new GT200 core, BIOS issues will definitely come into play. I'm definitely in the boat with those who say that the W860 will be receiving a GTX 200 core update in the future (it's MXM 3.0b), and the chances of us seeing an official 2.1 update is slim at best.
Keep in mind that the GTS 260M might not even match the current GTX, but the upcoming 40nm GTX 200s will destroy the GTX 260M, plain and simple. -
so odds are that for the m86x platform we're at the peak, though you never know. Oh well, I guess I can always hope.
gtx 260m replacement?
