    Meh....I might end up not buying anything new after all. Marketing just plain sucks.

    There will always be new cards coming out, even within the same generation. Look back at the HD 4000 series. I remember both the HD 4770 that came out a few months after the original series launch, and the HD 4890 that came out almost a full year after the original series launch.
