no i didnt, but i need a cheap card for this NP8690 and all i got is about $130
i bought a 4870M it turns on but screen looks funky (like missing drivers or something..) it starts beeping after like a minute and about 2 minutes it shuts off... maybe u know what that means? it beeps and the caps lock scroll lock and num lock all blink in unison however THE SCREEN DOES turn on and i am able to get to bios and what not before it shuts off...

it would shut off about 3-4 minutes after i turn it on with the 4870m

EDIT: asked the seller but waiting for reply..

Does your NP8690 come with a GTX 280M? GTX 280M's TDP is 75W, and the HD 4870 is rumored to be 65W so this probably isn't TDP issue, did you make sure the heatsink is properly attached to the vram and the chip? When it shuts down, is the AC adaptor's indicator still on? By the way GTX 560M's TDP is 75W too so there's hope.

no this thing came with a 5870m that isnt really dead but it shows a blank screen (screen doesn't even turn on) the previous owner flashed it and said it worked for a while but he said he put it to sleep and it never woke up...(i think he euthanized it. :p) but when i swap it for the 4870m it turns on and everything except for that issue. how do i "properly attach the heatsink? i modded it to fit flush and added the thermpads to the card in the places that they need and it all seems fine..

When you removed the heatsink could you see the mark of the thermal pads on either the heatsink or the memory chip? And was the paste evenly spread out? That HD 4870M is a Clevo card right?

Edit: HD 5870M's TDP is 75W too.

whatever, i doubt it can work on 860cu
anyone know that 560m come from which laptop?
bcz it not clevo nor dell/msi version, i think its from qosmio x770
