    Will an hdd put in the optical bay of a p170hm run at sata II or sata III speeds?

    The optical bay is SATA II 3.0Gbps speeds. If you're just putting in a mechanical HDD, you'll never have to worry about bottlenecks though. Only the newest and fastest SSD's saturate the SATA II connection.
