whether warranty repair or anything else? i am planning to upgrade and am very concerned about them scratching or marking it up in any way. my notebook looks as if the day i took it out of the box and i plan to keep it this way. so im wondering how many have had them repair their notebook and how they have come back to you and in what condition? hopefully this will make me feel better about sending mine in. thanks in advance

I went to their warehouse over Christmas break for an LCD repair, I sent it in right after Christmas day, and I got my notebook the following Thursday. There was a few days delay due to the weekend (business days only) and New Years day as well, but overall, it was a good experience. They handled the situation very well, though I suspect they forgot to hook up a LAN cord wire (every time I boot up, the computer notifies me of a disconnect BroadCom wire disconnect) after they reassembled the laptop, but the screen repair was superbly done.

As for condition, the laptop was in the exact physical condition it was before, so they won't damage it as far as I'm concerned.

Read my ongoing thread for my 5791. Cliffnotes were scratches were found on my machine, where they came from I dunno. Although I've shipped my 8790 back and forth twice over the past 3 years, and had no problems at all; just pack it EXACTLY as it came or have a professional packing company (UPS, etc.) to it for you w/ insurance.

I'd highly suggest taking hi-res pictures of the laptop at all angles, especially the lid, the LCD, the sides, the bottom, etc.

    Syntax:

Check your boot priority in the BIOS. That message is the computer trying to do a PXE network boot (If Sager had to reload the OS, they most likely did a network install).

In general, Sager is extremely careful with all notebooks that come in. They inventory the condition of the system as it is received and as it is shipped, and I've never heard any complaints about their handling (although UPS has caused some problems with the street hockey games they seem to enjoy playing with fragile packages).

I'll give that a shot, I booted up my laptop today with an ethernet cord connected and I didn't get the error message, some stuff about a MAC address went on and there was a character that was "/" and "\" switching back and forth for around 30 seconds.

And THAT was a network boot attempting to happen. After 30 seconds, it finally figured out that there wasn't anything to boot from there :D

That is a super-good idea for just about anything you ship off, particularly today in the age of inexpensive digital cameras. I even did that (once) with a rental car 'cause the car had some more-than-monor dings and the rental agent was acting sorta dodgy. Good thing too, 'cause they tried to bill a repair for one of those dings on my c-c about a week after I returned the car.

Thanks Eleison, the boot message seems to have gone away, now. :)
