Hi, i have never owned a sager-clevo laptop, i had a asus g60vx and sold it, because i didn't like the gpu temps, 104c max.
    Sold it for 550us
i have seen that some sager laptops are on ebay, and was wondering.
How hot is the 8800gtx? i know it will be a downgrade from the gtx260m but how much will it be?

also would you consider 2nd hand sager more reliable than second hand asus?
    thanks for the help.

    Hiya,

First thing I would note would be to avoid anything with an 8800 or a 9800 in it as they are extremely unreliable and should the card fail the laptop will be a write off.

    I would look for a M860TU with a 260 in it :)

thanks man. the problem i had with my asus wich had a gtx260m, is that it was second hand when o got it for 600us, but when i did some gaming the gpu reached 100c + on some games. and i imagined sooner or later it will fail.
so i keep it for 6 months and sold it.

the thin is that i can't afford a new laptop, so i always get second hand.(so far the 3 laptops i have gotten never failed in any way even teh gateway p with a 8800gts)

ATM i can use 800us tops.
    So a 8800gtx and 9800 on a sager is a risk?
I heard problems about the 8 series, but always believed a sager-clevo is reliable.
Is also is the cooling on gtx 260m Sager better than on a Asus?
    thanks for the help!

they were great cards 3 years ago and the top of the range then but there are lots and lots dying including mine which lasted 2.5 years. buying a second hand one like Pman said would be risky as it could only last a few months and then die on you.

Of all the 260s I have used/handled none have gotten anywhere near that hot I cant remember the last time I saw one go over 80 on full load.

Its not the sager/clevo chassis that are the problem its the cards themselves, they have a horrible failure rate and some people tried to bodge fix them by baking them and all sorts, stay away from a 2nd hand one you have no idea where its been.

Thats where I would be looking for a reasonable 2nd hand laptop, the 2XX series cards have proven to be quite reliable too :)

You can get a NP8130 with a GTX 460 or 560M for $1100. Don't bother with any 8800 series laptops. They are prone to failure.
