    hey all!

with the release of nvidia 900 series GPU, its time for me to look at a system that will finally give some quality performance while being affordable!

I was looking at the standard MSI and ASUS systems but after lookin closely at current Clevo systems, its amazing that I can upgrade them. I had a Dell XPS 17 with a 3 year warranty that expired a few months ago, and I said it would of been perfect if I could of just upgraded the parts... NOW I CAN!

So with there being so many models...

    What I want is:

    Able to upgrade everything!
    17'
    USB 3.1
Decent speakers if possible (I read the subwoofer is pretty much useless...)
    980m
Would like a higher end LCD better gamut and as close to 120hz as possible! (i do some gamin so response is still relevant..)

i am currently living in Israel and I do not think there is a local supplier here. from toronto originally so I thougt to order one to my parents house and have them ship it out.

is it worth it to buy barebones from the reseller then cherrypick components afterwards myself? Like SSD etc?

sorry for spelling mistakes I'm an old computer here at my house since my main desktop is at the office.......

P770ZM or P377SM-A is your only choice. P377SM-A is capable of 120Hz 72% NTSC gamut displays, which Eurocom offers firsthand (though Eurocom is pretty expensive).
USB 3.1 will not be available on P377SM-A.
P770ZM may have it I think, but I am uncertain how true this is. It will be single-GPU only and likely will NOT contain the 120Hz LCD. I am unsure if the 120Hz screen will fit in the P770ZM's LCD cover.

If you wish to buy without SSDs and such and install them later, that is perfectly fine and acceptable and you should do just that if you want. You will likely save a lot of money too.

I Just ordered a P670 ( M7 Pro) variant From Eurocom, and i ordered it 2 days ago and its on its way. i paid just over $1400 CAD ($1200 usd) there is a 10% off coupon that's around you can find, these were the specs i ordered
    4710
    970m
    8Gb Ram
    no HDD
    killer wifi
    90% NTSC screen 17.3"

the screen was really the only expenditure, ($130) as i have a Bunch of DDR3L Ram laying around and a few 500Gb SSD i can shove in this thing.

Personally Eurocom has been on top of the order, i emailed them 2 mins after i order and had immediate subsequent responses from the Sals Dept ( John)

I shopped around from the re-sellers and while Xotic has a very user friendly site, and Mythologic seemed Cool, basically the price got me in the Door, but the service so far will keep me for the next purchase as well.

pm me and ill point you towards the 10% Coupon.

this is actually kinda funny... my father sells servers and I think he said he can get sager from his supplier.

    Ill check on these suppliers..

i looked at zap.co.il which gives the lowest local prices... they are crazy here! http://qsys.co.il/items/450893 15000 shekels is about $4000US. for sure gonna ship one over!

how is sager with their worldwide warranty coverage? is it possible to ship somewhere closer for any warranty issues?

    The Sager NP8298 (P177SM-A and NP8278 (P170SM-A) also have user upgradable CPU/GPU.
But the only thing we can say will work are the currently offered upgrade options. Future GPU's may work, but there is no guarantee until they have been released and tested. For CPU, future gen's typically will not work as they are a different chipset.

Sager warranty is US only. Since you're international they will still honor your warranty but you do have to pay for shipping both ways. If its a customer serviceable part, then you can remove that and just send that in which will help on shipping costs.

There would be no global coverage. You'd be subject to the warranty your reseller provides and so they'd be best to contact in regards to how it is handled.

wow you guys at xotic are on top of the internet marketing channel big time! i work in the industry so its a pleasure to see a company really investing in it. Im sure its paying off!

being able to just ship a part back is excellent. However in my experience the only part that goes out with me is the screen... i have 3 young kids at home

The screen is one of the parts Sager will not allow being sent in by itself, that and the motherboard.

I agree Xotic Guys are Cool, they responded to my emails, as well, was just hard to walk away from $1200 out the Door. Plus the ETA was 3/10 or something similar and mine is already on the way from Eurocom. XoticPc seems to be a very Legit Seller

Not sure why people want high gamut screen unless they are doing photo/image editing and require a LCD to match their professional printer? Games don't respond to profiles and in general for personal use 72% is what you should be aiming for. At least that's my experience, had a 95% and it was a PIA. I'd just look for reviews on 72% panels that don't have hue (blue/yellow) issues and display colors correctly. The sRGB and aRGB stuff aren't needed for regular use as 72% will display all the colors your eyes can see anyway.

I have to agree. I had a high gamut screen a few years ago and found the colours to be big and bright but then for certain games / tasks they were too big and bright and just not natural. I wouldn't own a high gamut screen again.

For components, I buy bare minimum. I upgrade components as I see sales on NewEgg/EBay/Amazon. The SSD, m.2, and ram I have were from sales I found online. Will admit I did not save much on the M600 m.2. For ram I did since I sold the ram it came with to a friend and will sell the current 16gb 1600 CL9 also, so the 2133 I have coming will amount to around $30? And definitely repaste myself, save $30 on that upgrade.

Depends on what hardware you have on hand. Someone on this forum few years ago upgraded to an MSI laptop for incredibly low price as he used LCD, SSD/Ram etc from his old laptop to new. Just paid for CPU/GPU and shell.

    Hi

We regularly ship to Israel so are very familiar with the shipping and customs processes. If you're interested just drop me a pm and I'll be happy to help. If not no problem, there's lots of companies in N. America with good reputations (see above reccomendations) that can ship to Toronto!

After being a pain in the ass for many members here with my questions, especially D2 Ultima's (<3) I can recommend the Sager NP9377-S without a doubt. I have never encountered a single problem yet, great gaming experience, great temps, and overall a very solid machine. Also I can vouch for XoticPc. They have an amazing helpful staff and good discounts. Hope you'll be happy with your decision!

Hey guys im the OP now using tapatalk. After probably 50+ hours researching everything... P770 with desktop cpu and 980m seem good and the actual laptop seems well thought out and solid all around.
Im not sure if it has usb 3.1 though. Also the biggest thing for me is i want anything more then 60hz refresh! It seems 120hz is not available now but maybe there is an lcd i can successfully overclock to 80 or 90hz? My friend has a top of the line screen with 120hz and i was blown away. I feel its comparable to hd vs ssd in the world of diaplays. Fluid!

If i can get this setup i will pull the trigger in the next week.

Since im in Israel i want to also figure out from all the vendors who would be the cheapest or easiest to deal with for warranty.

    Anyone?

P.s. anyone know if new intel cpu broadwell i think will support this?.

P.p.s. its amazing to consider if you have a desktop you can interchange with the laptop so each year you buy 1 new cpu and give last years beast to the other... Sad intel however spoils that by always changing their lga.

If you want to be the guinea pig, the LP173WF2-TPB1 120Hz 17.3" panel should fit into that machine (eDP connector). If you want to buy that panel somewhere and see if it'll fit into the machine and reply in the P770ZM thread in the owner's lounges, that'd be great. I'm sure it'd bolster sales for the P770ZM quite a bit, and maybe we could even bug Eurocom into offering it natively on their website since Sager won't.

Im willing to try. Now need to decide on the reseller. I have a guy coming to the US next week so it would have to be shipped out and recieved by him by then.

I read on one of the reseller sites that the optional panels all use lvds.

it should still have an eDP connector soldered to the board, according to the service manual. Check and see if it's there and if it is, get an eDP cable for it from Eurocom or something and then see if the panel would work.
