Hello, I posted this thread in a different sub-forum but had no luck :(

I've ordered a new np9170 and I just have a question regarding this cool pad. I like that the fans are adjustable so you can put them right under your laptops sweet spot, but I'm not sure where exactly that would be in the sager np9170.
Would placing them right underneath the cpu/gpu fans be good? or does it seem a bit counter-intuitive since its going to be blowing air thats already coming out?

Also if you think there would be a better working coolpad with this model please share with me

Here's the link with the back-side of the sager notebook: http://www.sagernotebook.com/images/products/9170_4.jpg

    Thanks!

The machine cools so well that it won't make a difference. Put them underneath the battery and HDD.

Hard to tell though, they do help when the machine is idling :)

nowadays I rarely use the fans on my U3 since idle/gaming I rarely go 90c on my 8170 (which has the same locations as a 9170).
however I do notice that my 2nd hdd does warm up a bit when doing extensive read/writes so i position 1 of the fans under the hdd.,

hmm that makes two posts for the hdd, so guess I'll put one for the hdd and another for the battery then possibly the third for the RAM vent.

Still no input on whether placing it right under the cpu/gpu fans is a good or horrible idea?

Well there was a thread before which discussed where the optimal position was for fans to placed.

Some would argue directly below the fan intake would mess with the airflow of cool air going into the laptop.
Others would argue that it won't.

So it ends up more of a trial and error for the user.

Personally though I put 2 fans under the gpu and 1 on my secondary hdd, as my cpu rarely goes to 80+, while the gpu usually hovers in the 85 to 90 range

I have the np9170 and the u3, except i have the gtx 675mx. Im running hwmonitor, and i have all 3 fans aligned near the top. I found i couldnt put one near the hdd toward the bottom as it would actually lift up the stand. I've seen a 4-5C degree drop while playing metro 2033 with the fans on full blast. seems to be a nice cooling pad, although the pass through port is a bit flimsy and has an awkwardly placed wire.
