hi guys. i just bought the 8150 with the 6990m. first thing i installed was furmark i ran it for 10 min under extreme mode and got a max temp of 74c. i was very happy.

today i decided to run it again out of boredom and it looked completely differant in terms of heat spike it sky rocketed to 95c in a few mins which i know is pushing it. now im thinking of getting thermal paste for it.

why would the temps be drastically differant after only a few days or a week.

only thing i can think of is that i installed ati tray tools and went to overclocking and set the voltage to 1.1v is that overvolted or stock?

i got a bsod computer wouldnt start and when it finally did i removed ati tray tools completely. reg settings and all.

i have it sitting on a SF-19 cooler and all i gotta say is it is one beast of a cooler but it doesnt do much unless i remove the bottom panel.

anyone else experiencing high temp with the 6990m

and does anyone know software that i can use that shows my temperature during gaming so that i can see how high an actual game brings it. cause furmark has always been overkill.

i used to own a 260m gtx and that thing got hot. but right now im thinking the 6990m is similar in terms of heat.

Max I've seen with is around 82C.

Make sure your GPU fan is at 100%.

You can run HWMonitor and it will capture temps during gaming. Just open it and leave it then launch the game. It will capture the max temp during the game.

mine is set to .90 volts, I think you're going to destroy your GPU sooner than later. In some other threads you were asking about how to overvolt it, this is probably the source of your problems.

It seems to me that if your computer didn't start again, it may have removed the ATI tools as part of restoring it to the last good known configuration. I'd suggest checking to see if your driver is still up to date as this may have reverted as well.
