    high pitched whine from 2090

    It starts upon start up and continues, not very loudly but noticeable for sure. It is not the fan and it doesn't seem to be coming from the harddrive.

    the funny thing is if i turn the notebook upside down, the noise subsides till its very very quiet.

    this has me pretty worried and i'm no longer under warranty. (btw, i got this particular notebook in fall '07)

    if youve got bluetooth fitted turn it on and see if that stops it.

    I had a similar problem, I believe it was my battery.
    I unplugged the notebook and let the battery drain down a bit the noise stopped.

    its not the battery because i run from A/C power almost exclusively without the battery even hooked in.
