for some reason i had a popup asking what power mode i wanted to use. forgot how/why it popped up. anyways i clicked energy star and processor is running slow. using intel identify it says my processor is running 1.3 ghz out of 2.0 ghz. i've also been running wei on high performance and my processor score keeps coming up 6.3. it was 7.4. i can't find anything on forums or googling. help?

Try power options in the control panel and select a new plan?

lmao. i've tried resetting all my options to default. all. i'm even getting throttled on high performance. not that i'm into wei, but my processor score went down, my projects under boinc are going much slower and it just feels less manly.

yep. i am getting 1.3 ghz tops on my processors now. this issue is driving me nuts. i have some kind of power management going on in the background with no access of documentation to it. it's driving me nuts.

Hi, have you tried turning Intel SpeedStepping off in your BIOs. That should leave your processor at its maximum frequency of 2.0GHz.
-
don't have speedstep in my bios. whatever i did it was done from os level. i had 3 options and energy star was one of them. so i chose it. it was right before i went to bed so now i don't remember.

I always hate to say this but..... Do a system restore to before you made the change.
-
ignore this, post... opps hit submit twice

No system restore. I am away from laptop because of work. The only clue I can come up with is this might be related to updating my Intel Chipset drivers.

what is your wei score for processor 2630m? 7.4 or so? my processor is not throttling properly and i still can't figure it out. super pi scores are almost double. i can't get wprime to load since i installed ssd. boinc seems to be processing slower. i want to scream right now.

5160 is stuck in energy saver mode. can't turbo boost. i have set all power profiles to default. i have searched high and low, far and wide and dl'ed a lot of utilities from intel website and still stuck. see attached pic.

scratch the question. never found the answer. redoing my system. do want to mention, whatever where ever that option is knocked off about 5-10 watts of use on the plug. don't really know how that would translate into battery. my cpu was like a 1.3 ulv quad. might be something to look into for the portable power mizers out there.
how do you access energy star settings on np5160?
