I got the laptop this week from xoticpc and I am trying to figure out the Subwoofer on this laptop. I went int the sound manager and did the test. Whenever it highlight the Subwoofer, there is no sound/no bass.. nothing.
I am using the latest win7 driver from realtek.com.

I play some music and it doesn't seem the Subwoofer is working at all.

    any suggestion?

Clevo, and all other companies, just calls the amplifier a subwoofer for marketing reasons. Did you really think a laptop speaker the size of a quarter can amply reproduce sounds in the lower register?

The Realtek audio driver is a universal driver. They are coded to utilize multiple speakers, including a subwoofer, if the system has it, in this case the NP5797 doesn't. So the options such as rear, center, and subwoofer are null.

Play a song and then put your hand over the speaker grill. If you can hear the sound muffle, then it's working.

I use the drivers than came with the system, realtek HD, no sound comes out the "subwoofer" and there are no options in realtek to use it. Also then testing I only have the options of stereo, quadraphonic, and 5.1. In 5.1 when the sub woofer is soppost to sound, no sound comes out of the bottom speaker. Whatever I have external 5.1 so it doesn't matter.

    Do you have SRS wow enabled (fn+2 <- that's 2, NOT f2)?

Same thing for me. I've never felt any sound from the subwoofer. Putting my ear up, I can't hear it either. As far as I'm concerned, it doesn't work. Didn't work on my M570RU either. If it does work, its ≤ 5dB.

The sub is nothing more than another speaker. Its not something you enable and disable. as long as you play something and you put your ear next to it. Sound will come from it. Not really low sound. just sound.
