    ASUS W90 Series W90Vp-X2
has 4870x2 that are almost as powerful as gtx280 sli..
but it doesn't support desktop cpu like some of sager notebooks.
i can take out stock q9000 out of it and ebay it and then get
    qx9300 in it with 3k i have.

now, my other option is wait till i7 equipped sager notebook for
another 6 months or so. yeah.. no matter how i look at it, i7 920
will blow away qx9300 to the ground but considering how expensive
    sager notebook is, 3k configuration would be i7 920 + single gtx280
at max with 4gb ddr3 ram if i am lucky.

so my question is.. which is better? obviously, for gaming 4870x2
will blow away single gtx280. but for video editing, qx9300 will never
be a match to i7 920 even if i overclock it.
i do play plenty of games, and do plenty of video editing.
i just don't know what to choose for time being. it might be
better for me to wait another 6 months since window 7 is coming out
soon and i am pretty sure, i will have a lot of driver problems if i were to
get ASUS W90 Series W90Vp-X2 right now.
my current gateway p-7805u does nice job for my need but every
time i see new piece of equipment, i just can't resist it. my gateway
plays games i want on medium to max setting, and does nice job on video
editing(except huge hd file editing which i don't even try on this laptop)
but i somewhat want to upgrade.

I would get the sager because I am not much of a ATI fan and I use the cpu more than graphics

But for you I would get the Asus because of the currently faster performance (Sager is going to come out with a new laptop soon). The Q9300 is a fast cpu and is one of the best notebooks cpus so it's nothing to scoff at.

I guess you wont do video editing on your desktop since your desktop is way to strong to handle anything that throw at it.
I will buy a M980TU with that budget when it release.

i am probably spending way more time on my laptop than desktop cuz i work
    too long.

Just by curiosity, I'd like to by a i7 - 920 but I was wondering if the overclock was done complety through software or if you need to play in the bios and constantly rebood

i did it on bio and it's very easy to overclock. once you set bio, you don't need to touch it anymore. ever since i overclocked it, i left my pc 24/7 for past 4 months(minus rebooting times after updating windows or programs i installed). so far so good. it's been rock solid and noticably faster than my previous [email protected].
