if anyone knows how to do this can you get me a bios dump for the 5793 i need the logo and a few other things so i can merge them with the clevo 1.00.08 for those that want the clevo bios but the sager splash screen and oc options. lmk if you can help. if you are not sure of what you are doing i can try to talk you through it but it would be better if you have experience with this..

    thanks in advance

see post #29 i added a couple of bios with sager boot screens.. i can add something better if i can get something better ...

well i have successfully been able to change the bios startup screen. i do not have the sager screen yet as im hoping someone can either send me the actual sager firmware (not the fan update one on the site but the full firmware) or do the dump i need.. so i can do this to the clevo bios...

btw for those wondering what it looks like here is the "style note" startup screen .bmp:

Heh I had the sager one on my original np5790 bios startup screen, but I've long since flashed over it :p

If you do get it working though, I'd be happy to switch back to the sager screen; I think the stylenote one is pretty ugly heh

I have a hard time understanding the above post, but yes, every BIOS comes from Clevo.
And if I had a 5793,I`d gladly do a dump of it here.
Sounds disgusting for some reason :D

lol i need the .bmp so i can change the style note to sager as requested and the only place i know of or can find one (ive googled) is in the sager bios..also clevo makes the initial bios yes but resellers can change them accordingly.. just fyi not all companies will use the factory default clevo bios

I have a Sager 5793 with the Sager boot screen. Gotta love it :)

I too would be interested in your getting the Sager bios working with the Sager logo. My cousin was over visiting and he thought he could solve the GTX underclock problem by flashing the system bios to a different .08 so now it comes up with the Style logo.

I'd like to have it back to the Sager logo as the Style logo is just plain ugly looking. If you could post the bios when you're done, it would be very appreciated.

I want a boot screen that says:

    Top Secret
    Unauthorized Access
    Prohibited

In huge red letters, that would be sweet...

hmm well yes but winphlash should have worked ok.. not sure what happened.. can you try one more time and see if it comes out to the same size file for me? if you have a usb stick handy or a cd/dvd you can try the dos mode reg phlash program instead..but either should work..

zfactor - The stylenote bios .08 version, do you have that one laying around ?? As that is the one I would need :) Or is that maybe just the Eurocom bios that has been around for some time? Dont think my reseller would be happy with another bios boot screen :p

Isn`t flashing the BIOS a term for warranty voiding?

zfactor - Thanks :) will look into it tomorrow, if I get the time that is, as spare time is kinda missing atm

eleron911 - Thats why I would like the Style Note logo, as thats the one I got now :p Don't think that they will look after the BIOS version, so unless something goes wrong with the BIOS-update, doing so shouldn't void the warranty :) My last lappy got flashed several times, that didn't void anything, even told the shop I did so, to fix some stuff they couldn't and ive had my money returned on warranty, due to too many repairs :p

I recomend to always use the latest BIOS... even if you have older hardware(Meron/7950GTX/8700M GT).

Lots of bugs and problems were solved on the way, not only related do newer hardware:

My M570RU had the SBIOS 1.00.02 when I bought it, no problems with it, but later I updated to 1.00.08 just to see the changes... the machine felt more stable overall, mainly CPU VCore and Freq. fluctuating less.

You make a good point, but my system has been stable since the day I got it.
Added OCable tools, what does it mean? Only for the extreme cpus or what?

Unfortunately only on extreme CPUs... maybe on ES(Engeneering Samples) too.

That new OC tool is just an menu with the setting to rise the default multiplier from 14(14x200=2800) to 16(16x200=3200) on an X9000.

I recomend to update it, you will not lose anyting... I´ve updated mine from 1.00.02 and I dont regret...

No it didn't. I also don't see how a system bios mod could change a problem which is most likely caused by the way the video card is controlled by the card's bios along with its driver.

As for Sager helping with the problem, that is a very good question and once I am on summer break in two weeks, I plan on sending a few e-mails to tech support and start finding out why I am not getting the performance I paid good money for.

    Yes, you are correct.

But on mine I had no problems updating it, there is no performance gains that I´ve noticed, only stability and bug fixes.

One thing that is good is the removal of TPM, wich is a useless feature that consume system resources.

Another good thing is the refined SRS WOW sound, much better now, than on my old 1.00.02 BIOS.

You are the owner, so you decide... I´m only recomending it...

    Nop mine is 5791(2 slots PCI-E x1).

The diference was that your BIOS now is 1.00.03 or better... mine was 1.00.02, only on 03 version the TPM was removed.

I see. I never did check what BIOS I have and if I reboot now I`ll fall asleep (it`s 1:21 AM here) .
One question though : I see your memory is at 800Mhz, but it doesn`t run at 800,but 667 , right? so why the 800Mhz one? planning to upgrade later on ? :p
Also your clocks are increased 137/600/200 on the GPU. What are your temps?

The memory is at 800(806 more precisely) when I OC the CPU... 12x242=2904 wich will rise the memory frequency too...

The 4-4-4-12 latencies, is because I´ve flashed the EPROM with new SPD values, default ones was 5-5-5-15.

About the OC of the 8700M GT, with that freq. the core stays at about 58/59ºC after 2 hours runing Assasins Creed. If you want I will put some printscreen of RivaTuner monitor later on.

Once again I have to praise Clevo for doing such an awesome laptop.
And curse you nvidia for making my 7950GTX obsolete :D
So the RU does use 800Mhz memory ? I thought it was not possible..

you will only use more than 667 if you oc the cpu and even then its very small gains

When OC'ing the 800 mhz ones will just add some more stability :)

If you ain't oc'ing the cpu or messing with timings, there is really no use to throw out the more money for 800 mhz memory, just an extra cost :)

I see.Well, I ain't OCing the cpu,I',m actually undervolting it for lower temps.
But it's good to know that you can use 800 Mhz menory.
