any suggestions? i've done the soft power reset and J5 jumper reset and the problem continues. my laptop since last night has booted to os only twice and it shut off randomly after about 5 minutes. the other times, it powers on for 5 seconds and then shuts off. i can't even get to bios settings. occasionally, after i turn the power on and it turns off automatically, it powers on and off randomly like it was possessed. i am awaiting a call from sager repair facility, but so far the outcome points to a RMA and no laptop for at least a week. help?!
i've tried the original harddrive, original ram, battery only/ac only and all combination's of these. it won't boot. half the time it doesn't even make it to the sager logo screen. maaan. i like this laptop alot, too.

Have you tried resetting the CPU with new thermal paste? The GPU as well?
-
what are the benefits of that? how much disassembly would that require? my laptop is about 5 weeks if include the day i ordered it, and i'm assuming that much disassembly could void the warranty. i've never done cpu/gpu work so i'm hesitant and i don't have any thermal paste. what big box stores might sell that? best buy, circuit city or fry's by chance?
btw, i think i've read something about reseating the processors but i don't recall what it did. and i'm assuming you meant reseat, not reset correct? -
oh and sager has called. i am awaiting my email with the RMA and shipping instructions. anybody else have a magical solution?
-
any loose wires i could possibly check?

If you haven't done it before, and don't have a service manual (not the user manual), and you're still well under warranty and are already getting an RMA from Sager, it's best not to mess around with it.
Disassembly, by itself, shouldn't void the warranty, although since you're just 5 weeks into it, and you're getting an RMA, why take chances? Reseating the CPU would void the warranty only with respect to any damage that subsequently occurs as the result of a poorly seated CPU - of course, that's likely to be the lion's share of any repair bill, so again, it's not worth the chance right now. -
Disassembly generally won't void the warranty, but always ask Sager or your reseller first. If you still have a warranty, a 5 minute phone call is worth it to get Sager's approval and guidance in the process.
In this case, however, I'd say go with the RMA first. -
i don't remember where i saw it but do any of you have the link to ifl90 disassembly instructions? i've used the search function but i can't find it. i may have found it on youtube. don't remember though.
i think my mobo pooped on my sager2092...
