What would be better in terms of performance, price , heat ? Laptop version of the i7 or desktop version of the i5 ?

Um, the 751DM uses a LGA1151 socket, so it only accepts desktop CPUs.

Maybe if you were looking between like the P650 and the 751DM?

Performance the desktop will be better, price would go to the P650 typically, Heat will likely go to the P650 while the 751DM is a little larger, so i think they end up pretty close together there.

Speaking strictly to the CPU comparison, in terms of performance: slight nod to 6700HQ. The 6600K is unlocked and has higher base and turbo frequencies, and it scores slightly higher at single core performance, but in multi-core performance, the i7 is better. Pricing for the 6600K is probably a little bit cheaper also.

And as others pointed out, the 6700HQ is not a compatible processor with the P751DM. :vbwink:

Depends on the multi-threaded workload and how it reacts to hyper threading, in scenarios that like real cores the desktop will be able to turbo faster during heavier work loads quite significantly.

That's just the advantage of a higher TDP level being available.
