Hey guys, my friend has that notebook and I'm helping him to configure everything, we downloaded RealTemp and EVGA Precision, after 2 minutes of playing CoD: Black Ops 2, the screen goes black and the game minimizes, we checked the CPU temp and it was at 85ºC, the GPU temps were fine, at about 65~70ºC each.

Is it a CPU overheating problem? He bought from Sager, or is it some problem specifically with that game?

    Any help is welcome, thanks!

Which notebook? The 4800MQ is rated for a 100C max temp, which is generally the area where you start seeing random crashes. It could be that a core is drastically hotter than the others, but unlikely.

ops 2 isn't really cpu dependent to begin with, those are some quite high temps. You might want to check the heatsink connection with the cpu

Temps arent out of the ordinary but the behavior is. Have you seen the same thing happening with other games, if you havent tried any others do so and see if it does the same when it get to the same temps.

Hi guys, thanks for the answers.

The notebook is Sager, I don't know the model exactly, but is one with i7 4800MQ, 780M SLI, 2x Samsung 840 EVO 1 TB in RAID 0, 120hz display, etc

And I tested in Borderlands 2 and the same problem, apparentely isn't CPU overheat related, since it did the black screen and the temps were at 75ºC, far from the limit (100ºC) I'm gonna test today with SLI disabled and see if the problem persists, I'm using Windows 7 64 bits Ultimate and 327.23 WHQL driver.

If you're trying to play games at 120hz then it sounds as if you're running into the same issue that I and a few other have experienced. Try turning off 3D if you're using it, and definitely set it to a 60hz refresh and see if the problem persist while you're running SLI.
