worth spending 3k on NP5797 now or wait till i7 equipped laptop?
considering how ridiculously high they marked qx9300 for i don't think
i7 equipped laptop would go much higher than 3k when it comes out
later this year. i can live with my gateway for time being. :(

    Wait.

The NP5797 is not shipping for a couple weeks anyways, since the GTX 280 is on back order, or so they say. The QX9300 is very expensive, but thats a given with extreme model cpus.

If cpu power is a big concern to you, the 2.66ghz i7 920 is going to be far more powerful than the 2.5ghz clocked at 3GHz.

We can also only hope there will be a way to OC these new i7 Beasts. Besides, your Gateway is a very decent laptop, your desktop is insane, I think you can wait.
