Does anyone think that Clevo will build a 15" laptop in the next 6 months or so capable of handling an i7 processor? I say Clevo because I know if anyone, they will be the ones to do it. I want the D900f for the i7, but the screen is too big for me. Thats the only thing holding me back from getting it. I don't like lugging around 5 more lbs than a 15".

sorry to say me dont think so as a 15" will be just too toasty with an i7 processor.

they are coming out with i5 and i3 i think, which i would assume would release less heat.

Still wouldnt be feasible for Clevo to do such a thing. The 8662 which is the most powerful 15.4" notebook on the market is pushing its thermal limit.

I can't see he i5 and i3 making a huge difference in heat from the i7.

In terms of heat, clevo's are pretty good though.

you're expecting way too much...even QX9300 on 15" is on its thermal limits...

but there will be mobile i versions...lets hope the TDP wont be so high as the desktop counterparts....but can expect the performance wont be as high as i7 destop

The upcoming W860CU is the closest you'll get in the next 6 months.

I've heard about the W860CU and I'm pretty excited for it. Unfortunately, there is no estimated release date (that I'm aware of anyway).

Who wants I7 technology if its seriously hindered just for design purposes?

I think there reaches a time to get a desktop for those powerful processing needs until the laptop catches up with its own technology to match it.

There's the i7 mobile, which is still an i7. 2.0GHz quadcore w/ HT.

It would be interesting to see it in a standoff with the QX9300...
    ... one with four cores @ 2.53 and a 12MB L2 Cache, vs four cores @ 2.00 / 2 Cores @ 3.2, 8MB L3 Cache and stronger threading abilities.

Mmm, not sure about the red trim and agree with those other comments. Let's not forget that that the Core i7-920XM can run faster in different modes here.

The Core i7-780QM runs at 1.83Ghz
The Core i7-920XM runs at 2.00Ghz

However, thinking about it the Core i7-920XM requires even more thermal control with a (supposed) 55 TDP. It may be a risk in a 15" notebook. I wonder if Clevo will make allowances for it?

I know that won't stop some people on this board in any case.
