if you would like a custom boot screen for your 579x ...

i have a few here as examples and since ive now been asked by a ton of people to make different boot screens here are a few simple ones.. lmk what you think. if there is one you want simply tell me ill make you a bios flash and send it to you. i can add anything within the bios' limitations. which is 640 x 480 and about 300k. they can be anything simple as the bios will not hold anything with a lot of graphics. if you want your name or a logo etc that can be done. i just need a font and what you would like done. if you can make something up yourself and can send it to me if it fits in those specs i will add it to the bios for you. im doing this as a service for free for anyone with this notebook here at notebook review. the bios version will be 1.00.08 which is the clevo bios. if they release a new version i can edit that one as well.

edit: i just need the bios for the 9262 and i can do this for you guys as well. lmk if you would like something.

here is a .rar with phlash16, refresh, and all three wph files (chiller, top secret, and sager so all three of the above) take your pick:

unrar the folder. copy the phlash16.exe, refresh.bat, and ONE REPEAT ONE of the wph's only at a time to your boot device (must flash in dos mode) YOU MUST RENAME THE ONE YOU CHOOSE TO 57RU_108.WPH IN ORDER FOR THE PHLASH16 TO RECOGNIZE the file!! once at the c: prompt type refresh and hit enter your flash will begin. the phlash16.exe command will not work this time because you are already running .08 so you are doing a "refresh" instead.

Ok I just tried it. After typing "refresh" it gave me the following error:

"Phoenix Phlash16 Error

File Open failed on 57RU_108.WPH

Press any key to exit"

I've tried all three of them (one at a time) but they all give the same error.

EDIT: the file name is 57RU_108.WPH instead of 570RU_108.WPH

 

hmmmm .. they worked fine for me.. okay try renaming whichever one you are using to: 570RU_108.wph then copy it to the boot device.

lmk how that works. when i flashed mine i dont change the name of the wph but i did here to name them each something different.. that may be the issue

edit i just re-flashed again to the clevo "chiller" one and it works fine for me.. but the file was named 570ru_108.wph

 

Alright thanks for the suggestion, I renamed the file name to 57RU_108.WPH and it worked. w00t!!!

I'm using the chiller one coz I like to keep it nice and simple and unique at the same time. I'm loving it!

basically anything you want that is 640 x 480 at about 300k 256 colors or less......

you dont have to mess with the boot screen that i will do for you if you are concerned. it takes me literally about 30 seconds to swap out the boot screen once you know how and where to do this..

basically you just need to make a bootable source of media that will allow you to boot to dos, i recc a usb stick. then simply copy the 3 files onto the usb stick. reboot. now you will be at a c: prompt, type "refresh" without the quotes and it will flash it for you. hit any key to reboot and you are done

 

ill send it you when i get back no problems.. takes me no time to do it for you..

 

I put the three files onto a usb drive, changed the name "sager.wph" to 57RU_108.WPH restarted my computer but nothing happened it just goes straight to the login screen.

okay since i have recieved a ton of emails asking for the sager version of this bios... i want to make it clear that flashing back to this WILL NOT CHANGE YOUR BOOT SCREEN TO THE ORIGINAL ONE. it remains "style note" afterwards. i have tried twice to flash back to the sager version and both times it will not change it back.

the sager version is a installation exe which needs to be burned to disc as a iso. the files are in ames bootable image format and cannot be modified as the clevo version can be. so if anyone is thinking this will give them back the logo it does not do that. and both bios from clevo and sager are the same thing imo. i am guessing that this one they sent out to this person (where i got it from) it not the "full" or real sager version. it did come from sager however it will not change certain things back.

 

this one needs to be shrunk down as its 900k right now.. if we can make it 300k it would work.. we have a forum member working on this for us i will post back soon. if he wants to respond he is welcome to.. thanks go out to him. he will prob be posting more up for you to decide on but ill let him take credit for those ones.. lol..

Here's a couple... one is obvious, the other is... well obvious! The second obvious one I twisted Zfactor's Radiation image and slapped Sager on it. Let me know if anyone has a special request. I'm skipping Iron Man with friends from work to play on my PC... It's not a bad as it sounds, I'm going to see it with my wife tomorrow! haha

I like my custom AMD Opteron splash.

Zfactor... I've saved them as BMP's.. load them to my photobucket account and they turn them into .jpgs! So, I loaded them as attachments here as .bmp's.

I'll have a server going soon and will ftp them to that so I don't take up server space here unless it's not an issue.

 

or you can email me them as a bmp also.. you can post them however you want .. its just i need the actual file in bmp format..

If anyone is interested in changing their Vista user login background, check out LogonStudio Vista, its small (only 3.25 mb and the textures it comes with are 2.25mb of it) and works like a charm in Vista x64.

zfactor, Akakios added the .bmp file to the Sager overlayed on the radiation one on the last page.

Not trying to be pushy, just not sure if you realized that. I think it would look super cool. I can just imagine the comments I would get with something like that...

Whenever/if you can get the time, that would be great. No rush obviously, since I do not even have the notebook yet.
