should be done within a couple days. so far with a few minor exceptions i am liking it and im happy with it overall. the one screen issue and my esc key sounds like it literally going to fall off if i push it to hard one time. but other than that im happy overall. ive worked out all the bugs now and everything is running very smoothly. ive been working on it for 2 days now working all the kinks out and i am finall very happy with the way everything is installed and running. if anyone has any questions i may be able to help out. lmk. xotic pc so far has been great to me. i am awaiting a credit back on my second card used for the replacement system so i just hope that goes smooth. i have found certain kinks ill go over in my review about things like driver install sequence etc... i have found if you dont install certain ones first i had a terrible "wait" period when vista loaded it was fixed by re-installing them in a different order...
this is a overall great system and justin has been great to work with, when i get the authorization dropped for the first system ill post back and then the entire sale will have gone very smooth. with a few minor things i am unhappy about this is a great system. right in between the big dogs and the lesser ones..just need to get rid of this "style note" badge lol.. just a stupid name for a laptop
-
Are you going through the 3d mark stuff as well? PLZ do that
-
Awesome cant wait to read it....Ill be ordering mine at the beginning of next month and will be doing a review as well…gonna include benchmarks, and even do a Vista 64 and 32 bit install review and let ya know how the experience went…make sure ya post some real world benchmarks too…curious on how that 8700 will do on your rig
-
yes ill be doing 3dmark pcmark frame rates etc.. thats the reason i need a couple days to do it.. it will be VERY thorough
-
make sure to send it to Andrew when you are done.
It would be nice to see this on the front page of NBR. -
^^^ will do man. awesome thanks. i AM VERY thorough with my stuff.. ill make sure its a great one... def dont want to step on your toes though i know you were doing one also
-
Hey, don't take this the wrong way - I'm really glad you're doing a review since I just ordered one - but can you try to properly capitalize and punctuate when you write it? You always have great stuff to say but sometimes I have trouble reading it, and it would be a shame if that happened when I go to read your awesome review!
Thanks! -
lol yes i def will.. i type different when im simply just posting than how i really type sorry... i will double and triple check for spelling and punctuation i am not the best person with a keyboard but i try lol..
-
Good luck on the review.
Make sure you double check the numbers and dot the "i"s.
Also i think Chaz is doing a review on the Sager NP5791 but i dont know for sure(it might just be a performance review) so... -
-
I would like to do reviews on these new beasts, but do not have the time.
I have access to them for testing and tinkering... but I barely have enough time to do that.
I really need to finish this semester and hopefully be able to do more this winter. -
Cant wait to read it. Im getting my NP5791 sometimes this week hopefully.
-
I wanna see both reviews... I ordered a PayPal Credit Card for a 5791..
-

You got to have the worst luck in the world. From what I've read, after all you've been through your screen is still grainier and dimmer than your friends and families. The CPU heatsink was improperly mounted causing the fans to run constantly. The keyboard has sticking keys. Emblems were missing. etc etc... this was like a 2500 dollar notebook right? Oh, and they put out a big price drop right after you ordered. It's almost funny how much bad luck you have. They don't make them like they used to. Why don't you just take another try? You already went like months waiting for a system like your friends, I'd feel kind of down to just let it drop there and settle for less than I wanted if I went through all that.
-
well both my heatsink and a friends had the same issue. sager is sending me a brand new keyboard from what i understand takes like 5 min to swap out so no biggie there, the screen is def the one downfall imo. as i said its WAY better than the dell i got that i sent back. but still not as nice as i was expecting it to be. the emblem was not missing it just came with one that says "style note" instead of sager, but again sager is sending me a sager badge no questions asked. im outside of my return time. but if i did it all over again im not sure id go with the same thing or maybe i would but with a different screen. some other resellers have the wsxga glossy instead of the wuxga one and id prob go that way or the matte one.
and altogether after the barebones system and what i added i spent just a hair over 2k like 2070 i believe.. -
sorry for the delay pics are all done and its typed up i just have to check it over for mistakes etc... but i had some family issues to deal with (my mom had a minor heart attack and ive had to help her out for a bit) and have been in tn for the last week. my 5791 and the review i started is at my home in fl lol.. i should be home after this weekend and will get it all put together.
-
dude, don't worry about that review..you have plenty of itme to write it
btw. i'm hopin your mother is doing better now! =) -
I bought both the matte and glossy screen versions of the 5791. The matte screen is among the best I've seen BUT it isn't as nice as the glossy imo. The viewing angles on the matte screen aren't perfect either.
-
Ya no rush on the review, hope your mom is doing better
, i know what that can be like, my twin had a seizer 10 yrs ago and ended up having a brain tumor, but he's doing great, ya been looking for that review, Ive been busy with work to be posting on NBR
putting in my order for my lappy WED CANT WAIT!!!!!!!
-
not so sure about how much i like this system overall.. we'll see. not the intel card that comes with it connects at like half of my normal internet speeds ive been screwing with it for hours and have gotten no where
-
Have ya tried the intel help boards??
-
ive been searching for hours.....i have a 20/5 fios connection that all 5 other notebooks through wireless show just about 20mb and this card will not even net me 10...and keyboard issue and the fact im not super fond of the screen etc, ive revising the review a bit. im noticing after some use the keyboard seems to be getting a "wave" in the middle area where its sorta sunk in a way right where the h and j keys are... that where mine shows flex though...i like the screen minus the dark corners and the brightness, and this stinking intel card i had the 39 version in my first system and had no issues with the connection now with the 49 n version i get about half what i should be getting i def advise not getting this card for wifi there are numerous problems with it all over the net
-
I got the Intel draft N on my 5791 as well.
Speed on a G network is normal, so no complaints here
Screen's fine as well.
Just they keyboard: it misses my keystrokes from time to time. A bit annoying, but not really a disaster -
i get 54mb through the network..thats not the issue.. its the slowed down internet speeds that are bugging me..
-
if its slow downs, try this to make sure its not your ISP:
http://www.broadbandreports.com/stest
If the latency and speed is good, then its the router/wi-fi adapter combination that might be the issue. -
i already know for sure its the intel adapter ... there is some kind of issue there im going on ebay to try to find a atheros. all of our toshiba's have them and they are flawless. this intel one sucks imo
ive removed the atheros and the intel and swapped them and al is fine after that.. i get full 20mb with the 5791. -
just tried another atheros card and same result plug it in and it works. perfect. what is wrong with these 4965 cards this is the third time i have seen personally issues with these cards??
im writing a full review of the 5791...soon to come
