    Hi,
I've been waiting for a while with buying a notebook, and looked forward to the m570ru big time.
i could, however, wait until january/february to be able to buy a completely other notebook, targeting penryn and a better gpu than the current 8700.
I know you can keep waiting forever and stuff, but i'm wondering what machines will be available around then, does anyone have an idea about it?

also, what are the advantages of penryn over santa rosa?

The name "Penryn" is comparable to the name "Merom". They are both processor families based on the Santa Rosa platform. This means you can switch between any of these chips without having to replace your Santa Rosa compatible motherboard. The next Intel platform release, if I'm not mistaken, will be the Montevina (which will support Penryn and Nehalem processor families).
As far as predictions go, computer technology is forever changing (and quite fast), so it is very hard to tell you exactly what will be out htere the first two months of next year. Having said that, there have been rumors (since official confirmation is pending, if there will ever be one) about the 8800M/8700M GTX Ultra o whatever it's name (a DirectX 10 capable video card that exceeds all NVidia cards in the mobile environment) to be released towards this year's end.
    Hope I've been of assistance!

i knew that the 8700 gtx / 8800 / g92 8900/9800 chips are coming, but what i was looking for more was a new clevo model, or an other payable 17" monster that will come out

As far as I know, two revisions of the original Clevo M570RU have been thought. One has already been done (allows two Mini PCI-e cards) and the other is pending (motherboard upgrade and improved thermal solution that allows Intel Extreme Processors). Though the rebranded products may vary their denomination (for example: NP5790, NP5791, NP5792, etc.), the barebone will always be named Clevo M570RU.
I suppose Clevo models will not vary greatly since they are upgradable. Other companies will probably launch new products (of which there is no official word on).
I would like to note, for the sake of being just, that KillerNotebooks have the option of including Intel's Extreme Processors for quite some time now (due to a number of cooling modifications applied to the notebook by Mark, it's owner).
    Hope I've helped!

indeed i'm looking for newer notebooks from other companys that beat the m570ru. not because i think the ru is bad, but since i think other companys will sooner introduce newer models, i'm trying to widen my point of view instead of looking at one clevo all the time. but no rumors whatsoever?
and what about the new dell xps, a competitor of the d900c, when is it available in europe?

The Dell XPS 1730 carries two 8700M GTs in a SLI configuration. This feature is now available in the Clevo counterpart as well. It also has an Ageia Physics processor and an illuminated keyboard. Although these things have not been introduced by Clevo (until the time of this writing, at least), they are not characteristics that will turn tables performance wise.
If I recall correctly, France was one of the first to introduce the XPS 1730. On the other hand, preorders are currently being taken in the US (they are not user configurable).
If you have any more questions, don't hesistate to shoot!

Any changes to come over the next several months appear to be relatively minor, and I think waiting and waiting is not worth doing without.

I say get it, start enjoying it, and have some fun! ;)

they're not minor if the heat redesignment means upgradability for a hotter gpu...

In that case I think you should wait a few years longer then, so you can have a really, really hot GPU!!! :p

Yeah, I was just joking, I totally understand where you're coming from, and I feel the same way actually. I'm really going through this myself. I'm currently using a notebook that is in a state of systematic failure. My optical drive has completely failed, my OS is corupted and can't be repaired without an Opt. drive, my screen is failing, and this system is so weak and outdated that I can barely even do basic tasks. I need a new system ASAP, but I want to make sure that whatever I get has the most "bang for my buck", is as powerful as I can afford, and as future complaint as possible.

This will be my first actual notebook purchase, as this one was essentially given as a gift about six years ago! At that time it was just a simple low end notebook, so imagine what it's like now, and it's failing in almost every conceivable way.

It seems that every notebook I consider has at least one thing I almost can't stand about it, but I really need to just decide and get on with it before this old dinosaur I'm keying this text on expires once and for all! :D

My advice is to wait until you can no longer wait. It seams you are getting to that point but still not there yet. Getting to that point is ecentiall so you'll have no more excuses not to buy it :) It's a lot of money I know.

The reason why I say this is nothing but principle.
