    greetings guys and girls

I gave myself a treat and bought another ssd for christmas. An OCZ agility 3, 250GB to upgrade my existing one.

I opened the case, only to see there is no connector, or a caddy of any sort to connect it to. Is there any additional cables I have to buy, or anything else ? Originally I bought it with one ssd, an optical drive and 480m SLI.

I bought it from Schenker laptops, from Germany

    kind regards

Here's a link to the service manual with instructions (thanks to Theriko). Are you sure you're missing the caddy from the secondary bay?

    thanks Malibal.

where should the caddy be located ? should I get it with the laptop shipment, or should it be mounted in already??

now that im looking at this thing for a third hour, something comes to mind..

even if I had the caddy, theres no connector ? this is sata I presume, even if the caddy would get the ssd in place, where am I supposed to connect it to? provided I have to leave the optical drive inside

this is to replace your optical drive and will only be SATA II (your OCZ sgility 3 is SATA III, so there will be a performance hit).

unless you have other drives in your x7200, i suggest just attaching it in hdd sections inside your laptop (and not replace the ODD). it won't have any wires just a small caddy to screw your laptop in place.

if you opened up your laptop and there's no caddy in there then it's best to contact your reseller for it.

    velebrz,

Where did you look? Under the battery or in the middle compartment? See pp 6-5 through 6-12 of the user's manual. If you need an electronic version of the manual, see the BIOS/Drivers link in my sig. If you are missing the pieces that they show in the manual, you should probably contact your reseller to see if they can get you those missing pieces.

Just to clarify, there won't be too much of a performance difference between SATA II or SATA III drives in the x7200.

    hi guys

thank you for the new replies.

Before saying too soon, i will open my laptop and take photos when I get home from work. I think it will give the best insight.

the space looks like I "could" screw the disk in, but there is nothing to connect it too, besides a certain weird connector on the actual motherboard that ive never seen before

@geekz : the hdd space, you mean the one next to the space where my original ssd is ? in the middle ?

@jclausius : yes I opened both. I will browse through the manual and get back to you, in any case.
