    There's a whole bunch of reasons why laptops use laptop processors and desktops use desktop processors.

    1. Not pin-compatible (uses a different socket)
    2. Desktop processors have a TDP of 130+ Watts. Laptop processors have a TDP of less than 45 W.
    3. The heat sink necessary for a desktop processor is thicker than your laptop is.

    Otherwise, wouldn't we all be using desktop processors?

    How quickly we forget the "old" NP9262.
    Quad 9650 desktop :)
    Still works great..lol
    NP9280 have desktop i7 up to 975 all 3.33Ghz of goodness.

    It isn't long ago that companies were actually squeezing desktop processors into their big laptops. But that was before the Pentium M came out and the heat/power requirements for desktop chips went ballistic.

    Bottom line: If your notebook comes with a mobile processor, it takes MOBILE PROCESSORS, If it comes with a desktop processor... you get the point. End of Thread.
