ROFL!
No offense...
Hey Johnny, you can go 920XM if more power is needed. -

1. Not pin-compatible (uses a different socket)
2. Desktop processors have a TDP of 130+ Watts. Laptop processors have a TDP of less than 45 W.
3. The heat sink necessary for a desktop processor is thicker than your laptop is.
Otherwise, wouldn't we all be using desktop processors? -

I'd dump a Xeon in all my notebooks if that were true.

How quickly we forget the "old" NP9262.

That is a good point but it's still a desktop CPU in a laptop -
I still use my 9262, it is far from forgotten...

It isn't long ago that companies were actually squeezing desktop processors into their big laptops. But that was before the Pentium M came out and the heat/power requirements for desktop chips went ballistic.

Wow, just wow. This thread has disintegrated into a pulp of nonsensical jabbering.
Bottom line: If your notebook comes with a mobile processor, it takes MOBILE PROCESSORS, If it comes with a desktop processor... you get the point. End of Thread. -
