    Hi all

"I've searched but found no answers related to my specific problem.

I'm running Win7 and every time I close the lid on my laptop, downloads completely stop transferring (torrent, IE, windows, any kind of download). My computer is set to "Do Nothing" for every option under "Choose what closing the lid does", adn every sleep option is off plugged in (wich is the state i work at). While my lid is open and I am doing my normal business the speeds are just fine. It's only when I close it do they completely stop.

Is this a BIOS related issue? It seems like something is overriding my windows settings.

    hope there is a solution

    cheers

hmm...have u checked the advanced/more detailed windows power options? especially pertaining to the wireless adapter. maybe it would help switching off any powersaving mode there.

    cheers

Is this only when wireless? Have you tried it with the Ethernet cable hooked up to see if it does the same thing.

Yes, i did check all and every single option in advanced power settings.
Always wireless yes, it would really not be useful with the cable anyway, for what i need.

I have actually checked it further and found out that the downloads are not completely shut down, only slowed down severely. When hooked via HDMI i could see that closing the lid turned my torrent downloads from 800 KB/s or so, to 20 or 40 KB/s.. weird..

Maybe the wireless signal is losing strength as the lid is closed, happened on my old lenovo laptop, is not an issue with my P170EM, I know you've already checked but try again hooking the laptop up to an external monitor, close the laptop lid and check the wireless strength.

Check your power option which is under Control Pannel.

It is possible that you set the power option under sleeping/suspend mode when you close the lid.

    Double check! Let me know.

to be more clear, go to device manager and check the wireless device settings under network adapters, should be power/suspend option.
