There is no "official" support, but yes it does work. You just need the Enduro vBIOS for it (it won't show up in BIOS, but it should work nonetheless).

That depends on the card and its current firmware when you purchase it. Remember that it has to be a Clevo card, first. If the vBIOS is correct, then your system BIOS may need updated as well if it isn't already, but beyond that, it should work. Just remember that even if all of the firmware is correct and it's the correct card, you may see "not available" in the BIOS. That's normal.

It may a vBIOS that's incompatible. You'll need to flash it then, and maybe update the system BIOS as well. Flashing firmware is where things sort of fall into your own hands, I'm afraid. You can usually obtain those from fellow users here or other forum sites (firmware downloads, that is, not hands).

the system wouldnt properly recognize/utilize the card and it wouldnt be able to boot, so ud just see a black screen when pressing the power button. that wont damage either the gpu or the laptop itself, it just wont boot thats all :)

That or it boots and you get an image and it starts to boot but the ec panics, maxes the fans, beeps an error code and then shuts off the system.

    I get that a lot :p

The 7970M can be difficult to source but is the most tested card on older systems.

I have found the golden samples tend to be the most delicate too, hopefully your new card is robust :)
