i hope to hear back from justin about this but im wondering if they are the same card or not.. anyone know first hand or not??
-
yes.......someone asked the same question few weeks ago, I answered it, Justin gave me a valuable rep lol
-
okay i wanted to be sure since i must have missed that post.. and i tried a search but didnt see that exact question coming up
now to see what i can work out... hmmmmmmm -
-
It is the same, you only need the SLI cable.
-
oh lol the "yes" was referring to they are the same card.
-
hmm but where to get the sli cable.. i thought that it was in the notebook just not hooked up yet?? that could put a damper on things.. watch they prob want like my arm and other leg for the cable lol
-
Z you got a 9262 now? or you are making SLI on 5791?
-
No, you could get that from sager or Rjtech most certainly.
It`s not an expensive part though. -
no but i am thinking about getting that 9262 from rambo if i get the funds open.. then take my 8800 and do a sli setup and then put the 8700 back in mine and sell that on off..
-
I wish I went for the 9262, SLI 8800m is tempting
-
Don`t you guys get me started on quad 9800X2
-
MXM-IV cards are the same.... just the heatsink/fan is different for use in a D900C or M570RU
-
-
@ZF - as Gophn said, in order to put the 5793 8800GTX in a 9262 you'd need a new HSF (HeatSink & Fan assembly) as well as the SLI cable
-
it does not already have the fan in it??
-
I thought Ice-T tried to use a 8800 from a D901C in a M570RU and it wouldn't fit. Hrm...
-
okay i was told they are in fact the same cards.. but the brackets are different. from the pics of the insides it would seem the heatsink and fan is already there.. can anyone else confirm this at all??
-
Justin@XoticPC Company Representative
z- as we discussed over PM, they are the same cards but different casing/mounting between the systems.
-
Would sager offer those things separately, Justin?
-
Justin@XoticPC Company Representative
Thats a good question, It would be best for Z to call them and confirm. They should have them but I am not 100% for sure.
-
what i meant justin is if the fan and heatsink is already there installed or not?? i know the casing will be different. im going to call them today and see what is involved..
-
Justin@XoticPC Company Representative
No it is not installed. It comes separate when purchasing a 2nd GPU.
-
sent you a pm justin..
-
YOU CANNOT USE THE 8800gtx from the 5793 in the 9262.. the module will plug in but the parts like the bracket to make it actually fit ARE NOT SOLD SEPARATELY ... just so those that are curious are aware, sager says no can do and no way since they dont even have the parts to make it work at sager. so this sucks now i seriously wish i would have bought the dell from hawk
-
Dude, contact RJTech and ask them.
Also, try Eurocom.
Sager aren`t the only Clevo suppliers around. -
so same card different bracket? this is weird. as eleron said other retailers might have the parts.
-
Heck, maybe Neil@Kobalt can help you on this.
I don`t believe they don`t sell the parts separately.
What , you`re like supose to get to whole card from them just for the damn assemly?
Come on. -
you should customize the parts, I know you are good on this
-
yes. the only way to get the card with the right brackets is to buy a whole new 8800 with the right ones attached... at least thats what they say
-
Then try other places as I said.
Heck, even try Clevo in the worst case. -
-
according to rjtech its also a no go clevo themselves do not sell those parts...just spoke with richard, actually he even said they will not sell the heatsink separate either.. i guess ill see what neil says and eurocomm but it seems to be that sager was right
-
Thats why I posted that Ice-T had had problems from a few months ago trying to make them fit. They should be the same card but he wound up trimming some of the card off to get it to fit and *$*$*$ the card up in the process. Net loss $750 + time.
-
Mheh, so much for user upgradeable. You depend on THEIR specific products to do it...
-
yeah my thoughts exactly.. i was so excited at the thought of the 9262... and i have the $$ right now to buy it.. but i already paid almost 800 for this card im not spending another 800 on one a month later..
-
eleron911 you've been around long enough to know that even if a card is MXM type I, II, III, HE or IV that they are rarely swappable to another notebook even if it also uses the same type of MXM format.
I would highly suggest you guys check out Ice-T's website. -
Perhaps dexgo will fry his card OCing and you can use his brackets
/trying to be optimistic
//really sucks they don't sell the parts separately -
yeah i mean the module is the same .. so im o why would they not simply stock the cards and the brackets separate then add the right bracket to the right notebook when ordered imo it seems ridiculous..
so yeah 3 places now saying the same so i guess its a fact now -
So what good does it do having a 8800M GTX for an RU if you can`t use it in a D901C .
This is totally messed up.
Z, I guess you`ll have to sell your RU with the GTX at a higher cost and get another card ,once again... -
nah not worth all that loss to me.. if im going to end up having to do that ill just wait for nehalem to come... i was so stoked about the dell than that went down the tubes and now this... arghh
-
Tell me about it, I must`ve PMed with Hawk like 30 times...
Wanted that Dell badly myself
*hides from Clevo fanboys* -
yeah but i had the $$$ already in paypal to send him... was about to send it to till i read the thread he had saying he sold it..
-
Dude,me too
Where in the world will you find a 8800M GTX SLI laptop with X9000 CPU, international warranty for 2 years for 2500$?
The first guy that gives me this offer, has a deal -
So let's put it this way.
RU users with 8800M GTX cards can only sell them to other RU users?
What about D901C users, can they sell the card and make it work in the RU?
I noticed Donald`s back, maybe he can fill us in on this...
-
no the 901 cards will only work in a 901..same deal it would need the different housing not available separately
-
well that just makes user-upgradeable and selling values look worse and worse...
-
unless you have a dead 8800 from the other system that you want to replace, in which case you already have the enclosure and heatsink arangement. In this special case you could cross swap the cards fine
-
^^^^^^ correct...
is the 8800gtx the same card in the 5793 and the 9262??
