hello
i'm about to pull the trigger on the xmg (which is the rebrand sager \ clevo) laptop and i was wondering if the wireless update really worth it and if so , as a gamer , would i really feel the diffrence?
thanks alot in advance
edit : another question , which bigfoot is better the N1103 or the N1202?

wow ... i guess you guys just stoped by from doing a big mistake , thank you so much for the comments !
btw the basic wireless card on the system is intel centrino n2230 but i have an option to upgrade it to intel centrino n6235 , is it worth it?
(the only reason i'm asking is because i'm going to play ALOT of online games on a wireless network so i really want a reliable card) -
I would put my money on better router instead as long as you have good internet in your suite
-
do you think the intel centrino n6235 upgrade is worth it? -
I own Intel 6235 and I have owned 6230 too.
Both work perfectly.
No problems, no latency, they just work for gaming ideally. -
im using the 6235 inc bluetooth on my XMG and it works fine.
-
wow guys , words cannot describe how much i appreciate your help , thank you very very much
this is the spec i have built , what do you guys think?
• 17.3 or 15.6 screen (cant decide which one to get ^^ ) Full-HD (1920*1080) Non-Glare
• NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660M 2048MB GDDR5
• Intel Core i7-3630QM - 2,40 - 3,40GHz 6MB 45W
• 8GB (2x4096) SO-DIMM DDR3 RAM 1600MHz CORSAIR Vengeance
• 750GB SATA-II 7200U/Min Seagate Momentus 7200.5 (ST9750420AS)
• DVD SATA Multinorm Brenner
• Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6235 (inkl. Bluetooth)
thanks agian !!!! -
Yeah I agree I would go with the intel 6235, I love the added benefit of bluetooth that you'd lose as I have the razer orochi mouse which connects nicely with bluetooth.... also intel make the best network cards out there really, all their wired cards are in most servers out there.

to get the full potential of the lappy you will have to get an ssd. might be worth thinking about getting the cheapest hard drive included and then buying a decent ssd and installing it when you get your lappy.
sataII and sataIII do make quite a bit of difference.
i have no idea what the momentus hard drives are like for speed but just for example my clevo with western digital black 7200 takes roughly 25-30 seconds to fully boot to desktop but my crucial m4 ssd takes 12 seconds. -
true , i'm planing to add ssd later on because right now i'm short on money :<

Are the bigfoot cards really that bad? I just ordered an NP9150 with a "Bigfoot Networks Killer™ Wireless-N 1202 + Bluetooth 4.0 (Dual Band)". Is it just bad drivers that could be fixed in an update, or is the card itself bad?
-
im only going by what ive read on here but it sounds like there has been problems with drivers that still hasnt been rectified yet.
-
Get the 17".
I assume you will be getting the Clevo W370ET (dunno the sager model name).
Im using it and its my one and only PC and its great. If you plan on gaming and working with Photoshop, you need 17.3".
And it has some extra shortcut buttons that the 15" doesent have. -

Granted I've only had the laptop a few weeks but I've not plugged a network cable in once and so far I'm quite pleased with the performance. -

I also have the 1202 would of gotten the 1103 but needed BT, No problems with the 1202 I game online with it all the time and its been rock solid.
Just recently moved and ran InSSIDer with my brothers Envy dv6-7200 select which has a Intel Wifi Card, I got a consistently +10 dBm over his laptop in every room which really impressed me.
No complaints with this card.
Running on W7 -
so could windows 8 drivers be the problem with the killer card?
i also selected the 1202 card for my 9150 build. i still have to install the OS
maybe ill just install windows 7 if 8 is the issue.
to the ppl who say it doesn't or does work, what's your OS? -
Will be installing Win7 as well but doubt it is going to have issues either. (for me) -
I have an Atheros AR9380 (same as Killer 1103) purchased off eBay for about $20 and always run the latest drivers from station-drivers (currently v10.0.0.221)
I've never had a single issue connecting to many different wireless routers and hot spots.
Latency is always very low, great transfer rates and not suffered a single drop out.
Brilliant card. -
I wouldn't buy anything made by Atheros/Qualcomm anymore. That includes their ARM processors.
Every Atheros/Qualcomm WiFi product I've ever tried when using DPC latency tool found them to have issues. They weren't horrible, but nothing like the trusty Intel 6235/6300.
I guess for me, I've had too many Atheros products that were sub-par for me to ever trust again. I just don't care to see if they have changed anymore. -

Have a 1202 on Windows 8 Pro 64bit, and no problems here.

I've had an 1103 since June. It has been great for me. I've only had one disconnect issue with cod black ops 2. I was running very old drivers, so maybe the new one I just installed today will fix that. Otherwise, connection speed and response time are amazing. I've gotten 0ms in multiple speed tests when I'm at my friend's place with an airport extreme. Download speeds are also amazing. I also seem to get better range than most of my friends' laptop, perhaps due to the third antennae, which also allows for download speed of 450mbps versus 300mbps with most normal wireless cards. Although most people will say this doens't matter so much since the real bottleneck will be your service provider. Unfortunately I've read of many having problems, so if you're looking for a worry free set up, take the advice of others and stick with an Intel. But from my experience, the 1103 has been amazing.
-
I have the 1103 and haven't had any issues. This was with both Windows 7 and 8 on multiple routers.
-
I have the 1103 and constantly i have drops in internet connection. I tried connecting to 5-8 routers and i still get the drops. maybe its because i use cheap routers but i really think its the card. Want to get a dual band but scared because if i get it and i still get the drops then it would be a waste of money

Try using those drivers instead. -
I got my normal speed in speedtest but the thing is i keep on getting drops/disconnections. I think its my routers. In my house i use a dir605L: and in my dorm i use a zyxel p-660hn-ta/t1 and a TL-wr74On. -

ok got it to install after reading the entire thing. Will try this out *fingers crossed*
Amazing. No more downtime. I think its time to save up for that gaming router. I think its safe to say my router really sucks getting only 130ping on wifi and 66 ping wired. Thanks for the help King601:thumbsup: hope this thread can get stickied or something so that people with the BFN 1103 wont panic. -
i think after this thread no one will buy bigfoot anymore ^^

. I am just here to help. I also was happy and tears coming from eyes when I finally can play online without disconnect or ping lag spike or I can torrent

Hi there. I have the same problem as you king601. I get random disconnects, when i max out my internet to full speed... can you help me too with the driver possibility? I have the Lan Killer N1102 not the N1103, can I also use the Dell Driver or isn't it compatible?
thanks for your help, dont know what i can do... already crying -
There is always 2 sided opinions on the killer cards.
But here is my take:
There are reports of crappy driver.
The reception is good.
The software is a PITA.
They work perfectly on AMD chipsets.
They are double the price of intel counterparts.
The driver option is crap compare to intel.
Atheros/Qualcomm do not put generic driver up on their site.
So imo, it is not worth it unless you have a machine that can't stand intel cards ~~ (which is not the case for clevos)
Another frequently updating driver site for atheros.
ATHEROS drivers for Microsoft Windows (Atheros的驅動程åº)
1102 -> AR9382
1103 -> AR9382
1202 -> AR9462 -
go to here:
1. Atheros & Zidas drivers
2. scroll down until you AR9xxx and choose download depending on your system but the latest version is Version 10.0.0.221 WHQL win7/8 64
3. go to killer wirless webpage download killer wirless cleaner utlity . it can be found by going to support > download > utilities > choose your card > choose your system > download cleaner
4. un-install your current driver , restart
5. use the cleaner utility provide for you , resort
6. install atheros wireless driver and report here
7. if 6 did not work , download latest killer drivers from their website , it might work. -
I'm using 6.1.0.395 on my 1103N, it has TCP No Delay enabled as default when you install .395 and often disconnects, after turning it off it's been rock solid, TCP ACK Frequency stays at 2 too. Stopping the package flood seems to be the key here for the latest killer drivers.
Atheros driver does seem to be more stable than the killer drivers but people like me that needed bandwidth control still has to stick to the 2nd choice, since Netlimiter 3 brings weird stutterings. -
You could try cFosSpeed for bandwidth control.
Great program. -

I've been using my e2200 and 1202 combo and it's been working very well on bluetooth and wireless.
-
now i'm all curious if i buy the 6235 or the 1202
-
6235 all the way
-
1202 if you game a sh** load and want a good ping (I surely feel a difference), give or take really -
I think it's just easier to install fixes like Leatrix to lower your ping (free) and use 6235. And as someone mentioned, if you are having issues with latency, maybe you need to upgrade your router. -
Just get an Atheros AR9380 which has been shown in benchmarks to be better than the Intel on just about every test.
-
Except atheros latest drivers are all broken, during heavy usage stops sending packets for 30-45 secs.

I have to vouche in here (not wireless):
I`ve had my GT70 for 2 months now and I have the N1202 + Killer Gaming Ethernet Controller. I had some connection issues earlier but the computer was new so I didn`t use much energy on it
Now after using it for a while I can testify that its giving me issues. Almost everyday I experience drop outs: With that I mean I have connection with the router but I can`t recieve any data from the websites/servers I try to connect to. It usually takes 2-3 reboots until the connection works like it should. To add more injury my computer also freeze sometimes so the shutdown through Windows doesn`t work and I have to manually shutdown it by holding down the power button.
I first used the Killer driver shipped with the notebook. I have downloaded and installed the newest on the Killer website. Both give me the same problems.
Looks like I`m not the only one with this issue so it can`t be my router but rather the Bigfoot LAN. Never had any issues with my notebooks before that didnt have Killer.
Sometimes it gets on my nerves
I get 20-30 kb/s more speed out of my connection with the Killer compared to the ones without so thats a plus but with these problems I`m not sure its worth it... -
I received my NP9150 yesterday and it has the Killer Wireless N-1202 Card. So far the 1202 is rock solid, except for the WiFi LED indicator that does not light up (common issue with Killer Wireless Cards). I using the Netgear WNDR4500 router.

I use an Asus DSL-N55U and it's very rock solid and works well with my 1202 and my wife's 6300 ultimate N.
is the Bigfoot wireless lan killer N1103 really worth it?
