Hi! I found this comunity while i was searching some info about my laptop, an M57RU (the orange/black one), and i hope if someone can help me a bit(sorry if my English isnt the best, not my main languaje ><").
I have been using this laptop for about 5 years for work, gaming, etc., without any problems (something i find incredible on a PC/laptop, if i dont account the battery being dead for the big use i gave it xd), until quite recently, when i had to change the AC conector (something broke in it and was acting as a resistance, the plastic around the conector is a bit deformed because of it, but luckily that was the only "damage" it made).
First off i leave here his characteristics:
Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 (2,2Ghz).
4GB RAM (2x2GBs) 667Mhz
NVidia 8700M GT 512MBs
HDD 160GBs 7200rpm
Bios Ver. 1.00.03
O.S: W7 Ultimate 64Bits
So, even now, the laptop is enough for me (i normally play WoW/SC2 and a few other games that doesnt require a "mega computer"), but since a few weeks i found that an issue shows up. When im with something that requires some "hardwork", like gaming (it happens sometimes when i play SC2, or even when i play Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, both on High Quality, but never happened when playing WoW or navigating/working), it randomly "dies" without lagging/drop of FPS (can happen when i wear playing 1 hour, 2 hours, or even not happen), getting the screen black (but its on, because it emits light), sounds goes out, and the systems freezes, i have to force restart the laptop with the power on button, and after appearing the "Windows closed suddenly" window, everything goes ok. As i said, only happens when i play games that are a bit demanding.
I suppose the graphic card is "damaged", thats why i started searching some info and from what i see it supports MXM II graphic cards (good!), but im having problems to find a list/table where i can see which models supports, and with the issue that the laptop is a bit old, it may be a bit hard to find them (thats bad!). I have been reading this thread a bit but im a bit more confused due the many info there is here :/
So, what i would appreciate to know is:
- Which graphic cards supports the laptop.
- If i need to update the bios, where i can find the "newest version" and how to update it.
- Where i can find a fiable source to buy a new MXM graphic card (and have the possibility to deliver to Spain).
I would appreciate any help, thanks for reading and sorry, again, if my English isnt the best ^^"

Yes, it sounds as if your 8700m GT is dying
.
Supported cards:
8800m GTX, 9800m GT, 9800m GTS, fx1600m, fx2700m, fx3700m (best choice, nearly equal to GTX 280m).
There are maybe some other cards I forgot, sorry, it´s been a long time since I had an M570RU.
Use the latest Sager BIOS, you will find here:

You have to make a bootable USB stick or to burn on a CD in order to do so. Boot from that medium with the image from the BIOS files and then you are in a DOS version and can update BIOS. Don´t remember the name of the update file, but it should be obvious once you see it.
You have to look on ebay, sometimes you have to do it a while, but fx3700m´s are always there.
Cards must be MXM 2.1 HE. Good luck! -
Thx for the answer! I will try to find one, and i hope it isnt too expensive (i have seen some 9800m sold by some chineese companies for about 100€ or so, but i dont know if its trustfull or not
). Again, thnks for the help ^^

Sry for double posting, but i have some doubts
Searching on the net i found that the fx3700m i find are MXM III (which, i suppose they are incompatible with the MXM II) and, in other hand, their price is too high, yet, i found some 9600M and 9800M that are MXM II HE from some kind of Chineese resellers, but what worries me is that the majority of graphic cards they sell says that "their VBios is for Asus G70", which makes me wonder if that affects me in any way, i mean, does the VBios determine if it works in one model or in another? And if it does, what can i do (or how) to make ir work on my laptop? Im sry, but laptops arent my hard point and, evidently are "a different world" compared to PCs >< -
Hi,
that should be a fx3700m that works:
HP NVIDIA (P/N: 488125-001) QUADRO FX 3700M 1GB MXM HE VIDEO CARD | eBay
The HP ones should work, I don´t know about Asus...
You can try to contact niffcreature here in this forum, he knows everything about those laptops and those cards.
issues with my M57RU.
